Might'a crossed. I crossed with a buncha anti-war folks back in those

days .. every chance I could. ;-p But I never hung around Rittenhouse

Square .. it was sorta noted for dudes who were into Brotherly Love.

Yep .. they were about as Irish as you could find. On March 17th every

dang thing in the place was green .. they food dyed it all.

That end of town is mainly Catholic .. and Jewish. Drexel was a Land

Grant school .. ROTC MS 1 and MS 2 (1st & 2d years) were mandatory. At

the beginning of each year we had to issue uniforms to the little rich,

spoiled brats. Hardest thing to do was to keep the mammas out of the

room whilst all the cadets were standing around in their underwear. Run

one out and another snuck in. " But my boy doesn't know his shoe size as

I always purchased them for him. " and such. ;-p

Mighta been. I worked a few part-time jobs in Philly .. none of them

took me around that area. Worked for Globe Ticket Company for a while

and for Pinkerton for a longer while.

I didn't know'em and had nothing to do with them skeedadlin'. ;-p

Philly - my home town, although I was raised on a farm north of the city in

Bucks County. Great things going on here now aside from cheese steaks and Irish

pubs. Lots of farm fresh markets sprinkled throughout the city during the

summer months. Lots of competition for the Reading Terminal Farmers Market

where I have a vintage cart and sell my handmade soaps and other skin care

products. I use only pure essential oils and fantastic herbs. I grow as many

of them as a small property in the western part of the city (Powelton Village,

to be exact) will allow, including many mints, basil, dill, lots of lavender,

thyme, comfrey & others. Have one small apple tree, lots of tomatoes, peppers,

eggplant and flowers. Once grew two pumpkin plants which spread over the front

lawn, up my spruce tree and over the black wrought iron fence. The leaves were

tremendously large and hid most of the pumpkins, which numbered about 27. The

squirrels claimed most of them or should I say they took a bite or two from

about 90% so I ended up with only 2 or 3, but they were supreme treasures to me.

When the squash blossoms were in full bloom, my front yard, especially the

spruce tree was a thing of beauty. The tree, which is about 12 feet high was

covered in golden orange blossoms and it looked like Christmas in July. One of

those things you never forget and feel blessed to have experienced. Ahh, the

good earth - what could be better? I love this list!
