Guest guest
Hi Butch! >>According to doctors, if its not a virus .. it must be an allergy. ;-p yep I know & they usually just give you antibiotics & send you on your way. ; ) >>No way he can tell its an allergy unless it establishes a pattern .. or they do various allergy tests. ok, well he didn't say anything about doing any tests just said looks like an allergic reaction put this cream on....when it didn't get better I called said take benedryl....still didn't get better went in again put me on prednisone & he said somethings definately got you....that's about it & told me to pack all my fo's & soapmaking & incense stuff away for at least a week or until this clears up....which i think will be longer than a week. >>Too long two weeks. Unless you are constantly exposed to something that is causing the problems. Yep I am trying to figure out what it might be....I know last time my face swelled up really bad I was holding my daughter trying to get her to go to sleep....her head was right by my face & her shampoo has chamomile in it....might have lavender too will have to look, I started washing her hair with something else & using the prednisone & have not been that bad since so I don't know if was the prednisone...or eliminating the shampoo. >>What kinda lotion? was one I made myself & only used around the times I got breakouts....had emu in it kukui/hazlenut & another oil that I am spacing on right now. I used lavender & tea tree in that ....just a drop/oz. so for an 8 oz batch i used 5 drops lavender & 3 tea tree....was that too much? I didn't think a drop/oz would be too much. But like I said I need to learn more about eo's. >>Doesn't mean a thing .. problems .. including sensitization .. have to start somewhere. Yep I did read that you could use & use with no problems & then boom a problem so was wondering if that could have happened to me. I did remember a couple months ago my son commenting on how red my cheeks were a few times, but I can't remember if I used anything on my face then or not. >>It appears that it wouldn't have mattered if he was open or closed. yeah I guess not, huh. >>Not very likely .. but it could change into a very irritating creme. yes he said something about it mutating into something that was irritating for me or I was allergic to (???) >>Sounds a little like what a lot of folks have these modern times but don't know it .. Multiple Chemical Sensitivity .. maybe. ughh.....I really hope not! I really like making my soaps & incense! >>What he is saying is that your immune system might be fighting off what it sees as as foreign invader .. meaning, sensitization reactions. yep he said since my immune system is reacting right now to whatever is going on with my face it is reacting to everything I come in contact with right now. >>I'd consider packing them up for a little longer than just for now. yes I figured will have to wait til this all goes away....he said a week I have a feeling it will be longer than that, I hope not forever. >>Maybe .. but more likely has something to do with all the chemicals in your life. see normally there isn't a lot....other than fo's. But this time there was & BANG >>Roman Chamomole (Anthemis nobilis) is not a known sensitizer .. in fact it is anti-inflammatory and pre-anesthetic .. great for stopping itching and such. ok so may not be that, but can you be allergic to it? I was reading one page that was saying about it being an allergen but I only saw that one page so far & I know how some stuff on the net is. >>By avoiding the suspected irritant .. or contacting it .. and/or by a series of allergy tests. ok, I just have to figure out what exactly caused it...so I will ask him then about tests, I guess. >>Right you are .. and you're likely to learn what it is long before the doctor does. most likely : ) >>Do you know for sure that the cream contains REAL essential oils? And do you know the strenght/percentage of those essential oils? Or can you learn this information? as far as I know they were. No I don't know how much was used, I can ask then >>It happens occasionally .. sensitization to Lavender. I was wondering if it might be this because I have been in contact with lavender more than the others but I didn't think I was in contact with it that much.....and actually it was just the lavender 40/42 >>Photo-sensitization does not require exposure to direct sunlight .. indirect will often make it go down. I don't think it was this as I swelled up inside the grocery store pretty bad. >>Not gonna happen from the EO due to being related to anything. Its the herb that you have to be concerned with. ok, so the eo of chamomile will not cause an allergic reaction? >>I hope you get other replies. I am answering cause I think you seem to be in a tizzy .. and probably shouldn't be cause the worst is probably behind you .. unless you continue to be in contact with the problem. thanks Butch for taking the time to answer. Yep I am, just because I'm not sure what caused it or how to get rid of it, or if I ever will, & I really like making my stuff, I finally found something I enjoy doing & now I can't do it. I hope so, I just wish I knew what exactly the problem was >>Avoid ALL chemicals for a few days .. ALL. I know .. you gotta clean the house, etc. There are things the smart ladies on this list can probably recommend that are safe. yep am trying, is a lot harder than I thought, shampoos, fabric softeners etc all have perfumes in them, though they don't really seem to be bugging me too much right now. Well I can go back to my vinegar & baking soda which is what I was using I just got tired of all the scrubbing & figured would try something new. that'll teach me, huh! >>Learn what was in the creams .. and the percentage. And test for microbial infestation. Odds are your creme (and most everybody elses creme too) has a bit of infestation. will do. figured would get one of the home test kits from snowdrift & if it does show anything then send it out & find out what it is I tried really hard not to introduce water to it but who knows. will see if I can find out percentages...if they remember. >>Germ critters do not always cause a bad odor .. so that is not a very effective method to determine sterility and especially if there is no preservative in the cream. yep I know, that's why I am kicking myself, I should have known better, I just didn't think on the whole thing, I didn't know enough about eo's & their safe usage & I knew it was probably too old but was being cheap not wanting to waste it. >>Experience comes from failure .. confidence comes from success .. but we can't become confident till we have a good deal of experience. ;-p Well I should be pretty experienced & confident soon then if I keep going like this! (plus still feeling like an idiot!) >>I hope others can assist you more than I did .. I'll just say you oughta maybe not worry about it too much. Stay the hell away from all the chemicals you can for a few days .. well .. water should be an exception to that. no, You were a great help! Yeah hubby & dr. both told me I should calm down isn't helping matters much. Will try my best. >>IF it is irritation it should go away when the irritant is removed. If it is sensitization to a particular chemical, it might never go away in that it will flare up when you're exposed to that chemical .. and there is a possibility of cross sensitization due to trace chemicals that we can't even analyze with the present day equipement. ok, well am hoping it goes away, but I don't have very high hopes at the moment. >>Test the creme .. then dump it. And try to keep smiling. :-) will do. I'll try. You keep smiling too & thank you Butch! : ) Patty
