Guest guest
Hi All, I've got a question about the best oils and carrier oils for allergic reactions. What is safe and effective for hives and exzema for a year and a half old baby? The doctor prescribed a cortizone cream, but that seems to make everything worse, and this baby has multiple allergies and frequently breaks out in hives or basically turns bright red and irritated all over. She is on a strict diet to limit her exposure to allergens, but still breaks out, and nothing seems to help it topically. Her mother is ready to try EO's, but what is safe for children? Or should it just be something like jojoba? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!! Meri

(Im just a little bit biased there...) I would definitely not use EOs on a child so sesitive. I would do tea washes of herbs like red clover, self heal(Prunella vulgaris- it may be in your lawn...) plantain , calendula. I would give teas like red clover, cleavers(Galium aparine- specific for this stuff and excellent for kids) perhaps a glycerite of dill to help digestion. Maybe a tea or glycerite of Oxeye daisy(Chrysanthemum leucanthemum) when it is in bloom this summer...The gentle " weedy " herbs are usually all children need. Salves of the same would be helpful perhaps... What does her diet consist of? Michelle

What I have personally used on my babies is: Beeswax and oil (usually fracionated coconut) to make a creamy base and then I add Roman chamomile and lavender... HOWEVER, before I tried any of this, I would make sure that poor kid is not allergic to ANY of it. Have you thought of Homeopathy? If you decide to go this route, make sure they know what they are doing... get references. Cheers! Guest guest
Poor baby! For a little person so sensitive to so many things I really wouldn't recommend anything on the skin ... Does she have a homeopathic / holistic physicial in her area? This sounds like it could be a job for constitutional homeopathic treatment. *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com , " Meri " <falkirk333> wrote: > Hi All, I've got a question about the best oils and carrier oils for allergic reactions. Don't buy a lot of Rosehip seed oil because it has a short shelf life but it's great for skin problems. And the Jojoba would help stabalize it.These two oils could help get the babys skin calmed down then see how things go. I agree that staying away from essential oils right now at the babys age is probably a good idea. Fragrant Blessings! Dee
