Hi Butch,

Your sure right about this. My husband used his benifits to go to

school after he got out of the service. Even though he worked full

time and went to school full time, it was well worth it.

Have a Good One.

Nancy

One more thing .. just got a reminder of it from a service I

to. Its reported that approximately 50% of GI Bill benefits go

wasted.

The DoD continues to encourage military personnel to use their GI

Bill

and Top-Up benefits while on active duty, and after separation

through a

number of initiatives like eArmyu and an expansion of online courses

available to servicemembers.

Hey Butch,

Yes, it is something I do all the time. Before I

opened my store, I just talked with individuals

that wanted to talk (actually moan because they

got out and have nothing now) and informed them

of the opportunities that are available to them

and provided them with the local addresses and

phone numbers to the correct agencies/contact

people.

Now I have it posted in the store and I get lots

of questions from older folks as well as the

younger folks.

If I remember correctly, the GI Bill is there

until benefits are used - but there are other

programs for those that get out as

service-connected or receive medical discharges

that are there until 10 years after they get out.

So if you know anyone in these positions let

them know to contact their local Veteran's

Organizations (American Legion, VFW, the VA

itself). Also there are online sites with all

the information too.

Also, when I got out in '92, the outprocessing

makes you go through 'classes' on all the

benefits available and who to contact.
