Niaouli is a powerful antibacterial, but I'm not sure it is necessarily a helpful respiratory oil... my first three thoughts for a child that age would be myrtle... Myrtus communis hyssop Hyssop decumbens or Eucalyptus radiata I'd also think about Frankincense and Black Spruce...both are wonderful oils for respiratory support. I'd not diffuse any of them all night long... perhaps five to ten minutes at bedtime, and again first thing in the morning... Bush harvested in a few areas along parts of the east coast of Australia. My better half swears by it for relieving congestion from colds and flu. So do a number of `guinea pigs' who use it.
