AND as with every story there is always two sides. THIS in Anya's rather

twisted view of the situation. This " Loudmouth " is a member of both boards

and has been stuck in the middle by trying to answer our questions and yet

also keeping the integrity of the boards she's on.

As for Bleating and uncontrolled diatribes, I believe that Anya still owes

Martin Watt a public apology for putting words in his mouth about Michael

Schoels...

Someone might want to pass this on to her as I do believe that due to my

" Muenchausens by Internet " (at the VERY least) I'm in her kill file... >in

every life, there is a ray of sunshine ;-)<

In other words, Butch opens a big ol' can o' whupass on them -- again --

and the loonies that shout and babble about the validity of those joke

organizations ignore him and those with reasonable questions. And so the

madness continues. I think more damage is done to the credibility of

aromatherapy on that list by a few loudmouthed wackos than the FDA has done

so far. When Butch refers 'to the idiotic ravings of those two

organizations' I believe he is referring to a handful of idma-members, all

females, all with a vested interest in the organizations. They are truly

wacko, hotheaded and lacking an ability to reason (or back down.)

One loudmouth, in particular, who doesn't know how to shut up has turned

off any potential volunteers to help the organizations by her bleating and

uncontrolled diatribes. It's sad, because I think many good folk would

volunteer to help NAHA and ARC (well, maybe not ARC, since it's built upon

sand), but that one person turns them all off. She wouldn't be tolerated

here, where civilized folks gather :-) and that's a *good* thing. I'm

great at fundraising, for instance, I have the magic touch to get $$ out of

pockets and into organizations, but I wouldn't spend one moment of my time

to help them. Feh.

In addition, I think that many reps from big corporations lurk there and

skim information about the use of oils to turn them into supermarket

products. That's just my intuition, nothing concrete.

There is some good information to be had on idma, but it is scarce.

Some on idma go ballistic at practically anything I post there, because I

challenge the status quo, and their lies and false credentials, but, heck,

I'm honored to be disliked by con artists and phonies. You can imagine the

howls of the harpies when my " aromatherapy debunked and defended " webpage

went up :-) Since their claims and businesses are built upon sand, they

saw me shaking the foundation. Lately there have been earthquakes on idma,

particularlly about ARC, and I say, good, weed out the fakes and follies.

Chris made this oils/herbs group, I believe, to create a safe haven for

those interested in the oils, and that's great. I made the natural

perfumery group for the same reason, to get away from the flame wars, and

concentrate on aromachology, the root of AT. IDMA is unmoderated, this

group, and mine, are moderated. You can get a lot of the same information

on these groups without the flames, so it's very cool, indeed :-)http://member.newsguy.com/~herblady

Well, I for one stepped up to be a regional director for NAHA.

My main objective is to educate fellow massage therapists on basic safety,

and how to add the therapeutic benefits of essential oils to massage

treatment(Like informing people about Heli italicum, for instance- so

amazing for massage)

I also wanted to find out what " True Aromatherapy " was...;-) So far, in my

asking, I have not received a solid answer...I am trying to find out exactly

what the teachings behind the NAHA guidelines are- and although they vaguely

state what should be taught in their various levels ,and which oils are

covered- I ask ~where is this info coming from- is there a standard? Are

there true standards to what Directors and schools on their list are out

there promoting?

I am interested in further education through the association...

but what is that education based on?

Hey Evelyn, The Loonies ARE the asylum. ;-)

Idma isn't actually anything but a server. you know, like AOL, Earthlink etc.

For some reason " The Aromatherapy List hosted by Idma " just got shortened to

" The Idma list " like idma has no other lists at all! ;-)

Cheers!

Ok, Question. Exactly what does IDMA stand for? It's the first I've ever heard

of it or if it was mentioned only half of my brain must have been working that

day. I certainly want to steer clear of them. It sounds like the looneys are

running the Asylum.

AAAhhhhhh! Ok, I get it now. It was kindof like coming in on the middle of a

joke and the punch line doesn't make any sense. Sometimes my kids tell me I'm

certifiable but I think I'll just stay away from that particular Asylum. LOL

Hey y'all,

No need to feel that way. From time to time questions are asked that

anybody who has experience in the area can reply to and assist others.

Nobody knows everything but everybody knows something.

If the question is about Aromatherapeutic issues .. lay out your opinion

and don't worry about so A$$hole disagreeing cause there are no truths

in AT ... aside from the obvious safety issues ... gotta make sure you

know them afore you put an opinion out.

Generally, we can write books about AT without knowing the subject long

as we don't cross the safety lines. Problem is, lots of books are out

that do cross them .. written by folks who know little about AT.

Questions on this or that essential oil .. you might wanna step back and

see if someone answers it .. UNLESS .. you are totally convinced you can

field it properly. If your information on that oil is from any one of

the large number of " novels " in the industry .. you might oughta wait a

bit longer to reply. ;-p

Folks can't write a book about essential oils without knowing what they

are writing about .. though there are a couple of AT novels that get off

into essential oils and its obvious the writers are just passing along

the unreferenced bovine excrement they copied from previously published

novels fulla bovine excrement.

Now .. what's happening NOW on Idma. If you've not been on Idma for a

buncha years .. you might wanna listen more than write. However, if you

have some points to make on ethics or normal business practices, then

your comments will be welcomed by some and condemned by others .. it all

depends on where they are sitting .. but don't let that bother you. The

issues of NAHA (National Association of Holistic Aromatherapy) and ARC

(Aromatherapy Registration Council) are issues that go way back .. I'm

talking waaaaaaay back .. if you weren't around when the issues that are

now being beaten to death were beaten to death back then .. you are not

gonna add a lot to the conversation. When I wanna reply to the idiotic

ravings of those two organizations .. I just pull out posts I made back

in 2000 .. or before .. a friggin repeat.

Those of you who watched the Iraq's Goebbels Type Minister of Propaganda

declare Americans were not in Baghdad when they were sitting outside his

office will get an idea of how the feeble butt replies the NAHA and ARC

gives sound when folks try to pin them against the wall for perceived

(though I am convinced it more than merely perception) mismanagement and

other intolerable practices.

Basically, the dialogue now on Idma is a replay of years past .. and I

bet you a purty we will see it all again in the future cause nothing is

ever resolved on Idma .. one crisis is superceded by another crisis and

the entire cycle begins again.

Nothing is resolved because issues are not properly dealt with .. those

concerns that are expressed by list members receive half fast replies

that are hidden by smoke and mirrors, off-the-cuff replies that are

intended to confuse and start a new thread .. its almost like a woman

walking in and catching her spouse with another woman .. and while the

two of them get dressed and the other women is leaving, the man starts

berating his wife for some issue that is totally outside the point of

the moment .. anything to distract.

And guess what? Just as many folks fall for the BS Scam Spams sent out

to zillions of folks daily via Email .. many folks on Idma fall for the

BS replies put out my those organizations.

If I could only be on Idma or Oils & Herbs .. I'd drop Idma quicker than

a catfish lawyer can take your last penny. ;-p

Y'all keep smiling, Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
