Guest guest
Hi! My garden is beginning to show signs of pest intrusion. Can anyone recommend a homemade natural pesticide? Any suggestions even those using EO's would be appreciated. Guest guest
Hi Jamie, Actually a very easy homemade solution is mixing soap and water in a spray bottle (about a 2% solution - don't make it too strong). Spray the leaves generously every day or two until the infestation is gone. Coconut oil based soaps are particularly good for this as coconut oil is the richest natural source of laurate which gives those soaps some of the most effective carbon chains for this purpose. A liquid dish soap like Ivory brand - which is actually a soap can be used but don't use a detergent based dish liquid as this can cause more problems than do good. Also here is a web site with a lot of different homemade pesticide ideas ..... http://mama.essortment.com/homemadeinsecti_rvxg.htm I've also had very good luck using beneficial insects such as ladybugs and lacewings. Garden's Alive is a wonderful mail order source for these multi-legged friends (and other great products for the organic garden http://www.gardensalive.com Good luck! Have a great weekend everyone! *Smile* Chris (list mom) Certified Organic Virgin Coconut Oil Co-op http://www.alittleolfactory.com jamie2btru [jamie2btru] Friday, May 09, 2003 8:59 AM Natural Pest Killer Hi! Guest guest
Hi Christine. Thanks for the information. I didn't have any Ivory dish soap, but when I went to the link you provided, they said Murphy's soap would work as well and I have that! Thanks again!
