Separate counselors, one who deals with Teens and one for mom... Cheers! Guest guest
Hi again, Boy I am sending a lot of messages today for someone that usually lurks! A customer came in today with her 15 year old daughter. Her daughter is a great kid but is having issues as many teenagers do today. She has worked here in the store with me quite a number of times then all of a sudden decided she no longer wanted to learn aromatherapy. 1. She has ADD 2. She resists the authority of her mother (does great with me). 3. She had told me that she has trouble with trust issues, feeling free enough to express her feelings and also that she does not have any problems at all. 4. My observations: She has personality conflicts. By that I mean it is like two different people. One minute she is the sweetest girl around and the next - the meanest. She is a great worker, follows instructions and loves to learn. She is a compulsive liar, she skips school, is already sexually active and has been for at least a year that I know of, and last - today she was suspended from school. (she will not tell me why). 5. Her mother's observations: Is angry all the time, disrespectful, no manners, lies, skips school, deliberately breaks things, won't do her assigned chores, won't do her homework. And the list goes on. 6. When the two of them are together they are butting heads constantly. My recommendation to the mother was for professional counselling. I explained that I did not readily know what to do or if aromatherapy or herbs would help her daughter since her daughter does not think she has any problems. Her mother's request was if their was an herbal remedy or aromatherapy treatment that would help her daughter. This one has me pulling out all my books but everything I have tried (diffuser remedies) 1. Lemon, Bergamot and Palmarosa 2. Patchouli, Vetiver and Sandalwood There were a couple of others but I can not find them right now. I need some help on this one. This teenager is right on the edge - she could go either way. I would appreciate suggestions, ideas, etc. TIA, ===== Cheryl Smith A Heavenly Body 204 Muldoon Road Anchorage AK 99504 The New Search - Faster. Easier. Bingo. http://search. Guest guest
> My recommendation to the mother was for > professional counselling. Yeah but it is hard to find a therapist who really connects... Is there a Waldorf school in Anchorage?- I think there is-Aurora Waldorf School? they may have someone on staff or in their community that could be very helpful. Adolescence is such a hard time and our society hasnt any " coming out " rituals for teens- they really are emerging personalities- a conflict within themselves- NOT ADD or Multiple personality- normal - but needs a nourishing " garden " from which to grow... What about an essendulum with a blend for her? Melissa, Roman Cham, Neroli and just a wee tad of heli and Spikenard(very little) come to mind for me... I would love to work with adolescents more- as I really think they need the support to be who they are! Blessings Michelle A good book is " Reviving Ophelia " by Mary Pipher

I wish she would start coming in on Saturdays again, even if it is just to visit. Teens are people that I usually connect with. My two are fully grown but when they were younger I had my hands full and not just with them - they brought home all the young people that were hmmmmm how do I say this: not so much as neglected by their parents but did not trust them with their emotions. These young people would hang around and they would not be there very long before they started to tell me all the things that bothered them. I never asked but would definitely listen. Just talking to someone seemed to help many of them. > What about an essendulum with a blend for her? > Melissa, Roman Cham, Neroli > and just a wee tad of heli and Spikenard(very > little) come to mind for me...
