Guest guest
Hey Dale, I don't think its Mission .. its a corrupted email and it has fooled your PC in some manner. I have had this happen THREE times .. couldn't eliminate the email .. couldn't even touch on it without getting that dreaded ILLEGAL OPERATION note and locking the PC. Two of them were dated like in 2021 or so .. they were emails from folks I knew and they swore that their copy was not dated as such. One was never identified as even the smart feller working on the PC couldn't descramble it. The way mine were fixed? Young feller who works on PCs (university student he is) played around and pulled them up in Word .. somehow. Then moved all the mail out of the mailbox into a temporary mailbox and then somehow was able to delete them. But I know not what he did. For sure though .. it is a corrupted email and it has fooled your PC with some form of weird signals. Good luck. :-( Butch > MSN related??? > > For some reason msn sends a lot of my e-mail to the 'bulk' folder even though I have specified which mailing lists I belong to and will accept e-mail to my inbox. Today my bulk mail shows 85 messages. When I go to that folder there is only ONE e-mail and it says it is from 'Unknown'. Obviously I am not going to open it - looks too darn suspicious. But msn won't let me delete it and won't let me 'empty' the folder. > > Anyone have any ideas what might be going on?? None of my other folders seem to be affected and for now my PC seems okay. > > Dale
Guest guest
Thanks for the advice from everyone. So here is what happened. I signed-out and didn't sign on for a long time (but less than a day - wink) in case it was just an MSN server problem. When I finally did I could not get onto my e-mail at all via my PC. I had to log on to the Hotmail website to view my mail. From there I was able to view all of the mail in the bulk folder only now it was in a Hotmail folder called 'Junk Mail'. The oddball e-mail was not among them. I went through it all then reset the filters on my e-mail. I re-added my mailing list groups so I would receive e-mails to my Inbox (they were being sent to this 'Junk Mail' and 'Bulk Mail' folders apparently)from those domains I was specifically consenting to receive from. Then I also added a filter that said from now on just automatically delete any e-mail received from 'Unknown'. I went back to my regular MSN e-mail and hit 'Empty' to delete everything that was in the Bulk Mail folder which was only that weird e-mail. Still wouldn't empty it - got message that basically just said 'you can't do that!' I signed out and logged out. Waited again (like Eloise - the storybook character). The next time I logged on my Bulk Mail folder was completely empty. My Hotmail junk mail folder is completely empty. I have no idea what messages I might be missing. Now my MSN e-mail is a little slower to boot up to when I log on, but otherwise seems to be okay. Hmm....and by the way I was being spammed by 'Smilepop' continuously for three days before that. I never opened any of those e-mails. Never do. Just kept hitting 'Block Sender' on them (which MSN then automatically deletes). Dale
