Guest guest
Hi y'all, Taking a break from a pile of information I'm going through on European mismanagement of controls on essential oils .. all in preparation for a reply to the post a few days back on Laurus nobilis. Lemme say that it is a bit like going through research in preparation for a term paper .. you always have more than you need. ;-p I'll also say that there is NOT ONE European Chemist or Perfumer or Aromatherapist that agrees with a damn thing the Big Brother Bureaucratic European Union folks are doing except they all agree that if not stopped, it will destroy Aromatherapy. But I had to stop to comment on the below .. cause Jody .. I think you has a lot of pleasant surprises in store for you when you get out and about and try other companies too .. request samples if you want to .. but look around a bit. > My two favorite souces for eos are Liberty Natural (good selection & > service, good low prices) I respect Liberty .. they are not BS artists. They make no claims of having anything but (to the best of their knowledge) pure oils .. and they are almost without exception Commercial Grade oils. They don't claim to have tested or organic or certified organic or whatever oils. So .. I can respect that .. even if I would not sell Commercial Grade. > and ATL in Canada at http://WWW.ESSENTIAL-OIL.ORG. They have a > have a stunning selection I'll say they do .. I checked their hydrosols page. Or what they call Floral Waters/Hydrosols/Hydrolates .. they have 111 different ones .. I have never seen or even heard of anyone carrying so many. Its at URL http://www.pureessentialoils.com/hydrolatesa.htm ... Some are highly unlikely to exist as Hydrosols .. others DO NOT exist as Hydrosols. Next time you talk with them .. please ask how they distill things like Banana and Cantaloupe and Cucumber and Guava and Kiwi and Passion Fruit. > and are pretty pricey I agree with that .. as for prices .. their Rose Hydrosol is more for a liter (around a quart) than mine is for a gallon. ;-p Even on SALE http://www.pureessentialoils.com/item22835.htm they get $20 a pound .. and its French .. and doesn't give a botanical name. We know that France is not a major producer of Rosa damascena .. we know that they have mighty nice laboratories too. We also know that French's Mustard is not made in France .. its made in Rochester, New York .. the only thing they have in common is that they're both yellow. ;-p Even when I go to their SALE page I'm not going to say the EO are cheap. http://www.pureessentialoils.com/sale.htm > but the quality is unsurpassed, IMHO. Jody How do you determine quality? For that matter .. how do most of you folks determine quality? Do you use your nose only? If you do, you better have a lotta experience in sniffing oils .. and it wouldn't hurt to have a calibrated nose either. All oils are not going to smell nice .. that is, unless its stretched. Stretching is done for two reasons .. to increase profits and to make an oil more appealing to the olfactory senses. But to say one company's oil quality is unsurpassed means one would have to have checked out oils from technically .. all available companies .. but to be more logical .. we'll just say 15-20 companies. You haven't checked my company .. and maybe you haven't checked Chris or Marge or lots of other folks on this list who have URLs following their name. Mayhaps you oughta check them .. nobody is gonna send you a buncha free samples and pay the postage .. at least I won't and I get lots of folks from Mid East and Asian countries asking for such every week. But I do give five free samples when someone pays actual postage .. number 6 and onward is 50 cents each .. even that doesn't cover the cost of a bottle and cap .. or the oil .. and certainly not the labor to pour it .. but we gotta do that cause the world is fulla professional sample collectors who never buy .. they collect samples. And I always give at least five free with every order. I expect other folks do something like that too. Mayhaps this company that has the fantastic hydrosols has unsurpassed quality .. folks that can create silk purses from sow's ears might have that capability .. but you won't know till you try a few samples from some of the other folks on this and other lists. Look for the URL after their name when they post .. then write them .. you won't be sorry. Y'all keep smiling, Butch http://www.AV-AT.com Bulk/Wholesale/Retail GC Tested EO, Rose Otto, Hydrosols and other nice things shipped from our store in downtown Friendsville, MD ..
