Guest guest
My midwife gave me a " cord care " dusting powder that was made up simply of goldenseal root powder and oregon grape root powder .. it seemed to work very well. I hope you have a quick and easy labor there mama! *Smile* Chris (list mom) <http://www.alittleolfactory.com> http://www.alittleolfactory.com Erin aka Forever Pregnant [eddi01] Friday, April 04, 2003 4:54 PM Cord Care What all would/do you do for the care of the " stump " after baby is born? I'm just wondering if there's something herbal that can help it dry up quicker because my babies' cords have taken a long time to fall off. -- <>< Erin Patiently awaiting Sprout who has missed the due date by 3 days http://www.edenessentials.com/store I'm a Pampered Chef Independent Consultant. http://www.pamperedchef.com Have a catalog show in April and get a FREE BBQ Mitt from me!! I'm never patiently waiting even a month before. My oldest was 3 days late and I was like " GET HIM OUT OF ME!!!! " LOL. So you are doing great!! About the chord. We were always told to use a q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol and rub the stump (NOT the baby's skin) and that would dry it out really fast. Guest guest
That's what I've always done too, but my babies' stumps seem to linger for a rather long time (compared to my friends' babies anyway) so I was hoping to try something else this time and help it dry faster. shimai wrote: > About the chord. Guest guest
I agree, rubbing alcohol works great. I used it on all three of my children,It will come off after a short time. Just be careful though,My second to the youngest thought it was a raisin when her little sisters fell off. I caught her just in time before she made a meal out of it. I was glad to be there to take it away from her. ......Those were the good old days---Mia Starr -- Original Message ----- Erin aka Forever Pregnant Friday, April 04, 2003 10:04 PM Re: Cord Care That's what I've always done too, but my babies' stumps seem to linger for a rather long time (compared to my friends' babies anyway) so I was hoping to try something else this time and help it dry faster. shimai wrote: > About the chord. Guest guest
hiya mama! who knew i would find you here! well, as you know i have four, and as you may not know, my fourth was a planned unassisted homebirth. i recommend using nothing at all. my others, i used alcohol, and it took up to two weeks. kyre's fell off on the 4th day postpartum! if it's really hanging around and you're worried about infection, the only thing i would recommend is goldenseal powder. just my two cents! blessings, chauna
Guest guest
Hey Chauna! I was going to suggest this list to you.
