I think this is the real " medicine. " Amazing how much good touch can be in

overcoming ANYTHING. I would even venture the guess that touch is the

lion's share of the therapeutic value of massage. The actually working of

the tissues is good but how much better is it if it is done with loving

hands?!?!?!?

Karen J- who will now get down of her soap box.

Hi Diana,

Been meaning to comment on this one .. and finally got the time.

> If you take the oregano oil-olive oil mixture as sold in the store

The Oregano-Olive Oil mixtures sold in the store are NOT a good source.

First, this all began with Dr. Cass Igram of North American Herb & Spice

company. I was his supplier for a good while .. sold him a few tons of

this and that Orgianum .. not all Origanum vulgare as he claims in his

ads and radio shows. Problem with his product and those many clones

that followed on are that prices are like $20 some odd bucks for 2/3 oz

of roughly 5% Origanum in Olive Oil. Folks know they can buy an ounce

of pure Origanum Retail for far less than this so that makes the store

brand a MINIMUM of 30 X more expensive. And wholesale, they can buy it

maybe $4 an ounce which means its almost 100 X cheaper.

Second problem is the store stuff almost always has a rubber eye dropper

in the top. Within MINUTES of coming into contact with even 5% dilution

of Origanum the molecules of the rubber begin leeching into the oil ..

this is not a debatable subject.

> and put the drops under your tongue and on your glands in your throat

> it will burn a bit for a minute but kill the pain.

> Diana of Dewberry Hill

This too was originated by Cass Igram .. this under the tongue crap and

rubbing on the glands. First, the active ingredient of the Origanums is

Carvocral and Carvacrol is NOT one of the FEW chemicals that absorb into

the skin .. if someone wants to drag out the old bovine excrement tales

about skin absorption I'll be glad to address them ... but I'll skip'em

for the time being and just say be glad that all chemicals do not absorb

or we'd be spending a lot of time in the emergency room.

Of the three basic methods of introducing any chemical into the body the

quickest .. but not always the safest and never the safest with EO .. is

injection. So we'll leave that one lay as a non-starter.

The most effective SAFE means of gaining the therapeutic benefits of ANY

essential oil is through inhalation .. plus its the quickest. The next

most effective is ingestion .. but all essential oils cannot be ingested

safely .. and some, like Pennyroyal, will kill us PDQ!! Finally, the

LEAST EFFECTIVE means of gaining therapeutic benefit from an EO is

dermal application .. why? Because all the chemicals in that so-called

natural synergy will NOT absorb into the skin.

If the tales we have been taught are true .. if there is a need to use

only pure and unadulterated EO .. that means we need the entire spectrum

of chemical components in that EO .. to include the trace chemicals ..

and including those chemicals that will NOT absorb. So we can't have it

both ways. In fact, what really happens when one gets a massage with an

EO is the violatile vapors of the EO are inhaled into the olfactory

system by the recipient of the massage .. and moreso by the giver as the

volatile molecules will rise upward.

But then .. massage without EO has therapeutic benefit too .. as does

the simple act of touching.

> I usually chase with water after a minute.

Not a bad idea. What its doing is washing a relatively irritating oil

on down into the gullet .. which can better handle it without the sting.

If one wants to learn a new dance, get some Origanum on the lips.

Those who have been around know that I know Origanums .. and I use them

routinely .. and have written personal testimonals on how I use them.

But we should not believe the hawg crap we read from those who push the

ingestion of EO .. especially when they don't even use the word EO in

their discussion .. they prefer Oil of This and Oil of That .. and in

the case of Hydrosols they say Juice of This and That. And finally, if

one can stick around long enough to get a medical doctor diploma, they

can recommend we use horse manure and still be within the bounds of the

law. Their only risk is if someone has the whatfor to take them to

court if the horse manure can be shown to cause harm .. and even then,

the rest of the medico team .. the AMA and FDA and major pharmaceutical

companies may chip in to buy them an attorney that could get O.J. off

even a second time. There is honor among thieves.

Finally .. those of you who are familar with Martin's EO Monographs know

that he doesn't have one on the Origanums. That's not surprising cause

there are few Western folks who have a lot of knowledge of them. I can

say without bragging that I am one of those few .. and based on a recent

request from Martin .. seen below .. I am about to prepare one.

> Bear in mind that my course does not contain information on Oregano

> in Turkey would learn how to keep a computer in good running order, he

> could throw something together which I could then check and include as

> from yourself could be used though. Reason is - as you know - Oregano

> is like Helichysum and if bought from suppliers you don't know you

> don't have a clue what the oil is or what it will do. Martin

Now lemme tell you about doctors and professors and such who claim to

have knowledge based on their credentials. Just today, I had a full

professor visit me with a GC/MS of a so-called Oregano oil. I arranged

a sale of 1,000 kilos a month for a year to a buyer in Austria .. and a

Province Chief of Police pushed me to buy the product from a friend of

his who produces EO .. on the Black Sea .. not a prolific area for the

Origanums. Anyway .. this Full Professor in the Agricultural Faculty of

an unnamed university brought me a GC/MS with a Carvacrol level of 42%

and a Thymol level of over 8%. When I told him that it was NOT Origanum

he pulled out a sheet of standards he had prepared .. I asked him what

he thought that Standard Sheet was for .. that is, which oil? He hemmed

and hawed and said Oregano. Which Oregano says me? We have 26 here in

Turkey and only 5 are commercially viable. And NONE of them have an 8%

level of Thymol and the Great Spirit ain't yet allowed ANY wild Oregano

plant to produce only 42% Carvacrol. I'm thinking that what he has is

Thymbra spicata .. I'm doing a bit of testing myself now.

What's the point of the above? If you don't know what you're testing

you cannot test it .. and credentials don't make an expert in all areas.

Folks need to know their limitations and that's particularly true of the

art and science of analyzation. This fellow was into an area where he

had no expertise and dealing with someone who had some knowledge .. in

order to not make him feel even more embarrassed I gave him a few ways

out .. so he could save face .. but I'm sure it ruined his week. The

producer lost a lucrative, long-term contract .. and they pissed me off

enough that I'm gonna quit working righ after this post and go have a

few ice-cold Efes Beers. ;-p

Y'all keep smiling, Butch http://www.AV-AT.com

Bulk/Wholesale/Retail GC Tested EO, Rose Otto, Tested Hydrosols and

other goodies shipped to you from our store in Friendsville, Maryland

PS: And my next post is gonna be on Rose Otto to Kathleen's group at

WoobeyNooz .. but Kathleen, I'll wait till the morn

cause tonight I'm gonna go argue with Islamic extremists and other forms

of low-life about political issues of which they have no knowledge. ;-p
