You do want to be careful that the oregano oil is well dilited with olive oil.

Yes the garlic mullien oil is good too. But even garlic (my favorite standby)

can be irritating if not diluted enough. If you take the oregano oil-olive oil

mixture as sold in the store and put the drops under your tongue and on your

glands in your throat it will burn a bit for a minute but kill the pain. I

usually chase with water after a minute. That will get to the ears, too. Even

when I do my special Eyebright wash in my with the cayenne and goldenseal in it,

my sinus ends up draining. Those canals are all connected. Don't forget that

recipe for Super Tonic, it's wonderful.

Oh YESSSS! That is no joke! I did forget to add that - thank you for

mentioning it Diana :)

I once had a friend who made a crushed garlic poultice and put it on a

skin yuckiness she had, and it got rid of it .. What I mean is it got

rid of her skin! It ate right through it ;-p

Have a great weekend folks :)

Hi Rachelle, Diana, other good folks ...

> I would get some oregano oil diluted in olive oil and put drops of

> that in my ears.

The first thing I would do is avoid all the novels on Aromatherapy .. if

one says do this or that .. I would pretty much know what not to do.

Ask forty-eleven Aromatherapists how they'd deal with this and they'll

pull out their AT Novels .. see what Jim and Joe and Suzy wrote on how

to deal with it. Odds are that Jim and Joe and Suzy either copied and

modified a remedy from some other Aromatherapist who copied it from a

previous Aromatherapist .. or through extrapolation of known properties

of an EO, devised their own hypothetical blend.

My opinion on this .. it might work to cure an ear infection .. but if I

knew someone was going to use my Origanum like that I'd refuse to sell

it to them. Though its not a known sensitizer it can be a mild dermal

irritant and for more sensitive areas .. which the ear canal can be if

there is an infection, it can make you learn a new dance.

If there is an ear infection then there's no need to directly apply the

Origanum to the infection .. ingestion will do it but I would consider

simple inhalation before ingesting. There's a direct connection from

the nose to the ears through the Eustachian tubes. Inhalation of

Origanum is a VERY effective way to kick Big Bad Bug Butts.

> (snipped) If nothing else, put drops of tea tree oil on tissue and put

> that between the head phones and your ears.

Nor would I put Tea Tree directly on my skin .. duration is about as

important as dilution. The longer an oil is in contact with the skin

the more chance of irritation or worse, sensitization .. and contrary to

the rumors that abound in the cottage-industry of Aromatherapy, there's

no shortage of folks who have become sensitized from neat use of those

so-called safe oils .. Tea Tree and Lavandula.

Ear infections can spread from one area to another .. outer to middle to

inner ear .. not something to trifle with. But some ear aches are not

infections at all and might go away with a few warm compresses.

Many ear aches are secondary infections .. basically, a symptom of some

other ailment or infection .. cold, sinus or nasal problem. So treating

the original problem will cure the secondary or symptomatic problem.

If I were going to place anything in my ear, I'd crush a clove of garlic

and mix the juice with unrefined extra-virgin olive oil .. put a couple

of drops of this mixture on a cotton ball and insert in the ear .. and

not far into the ear either. Garlic is antibacterial and antifungal

plus this is a time-honored, effective home remedy.

Howsomeever, like other therapeutic organic materials .. the cure can

become a part of the problem .. means, gotta make sure there are no bits

or pieces of garlic in the mixture and gotta use a new piece of garlic

each time .. decomposing bits can host lots of critters.

Odds are the ear ache will go away by itself but if after inhalation of

Origanum .. and Rosmarinus officinalis too come too think of it .. and

application of the garlic oil/olive oil .. its still there, then it has

either spread throughout the ear or the base cause has become worse.

That's my take on it .. and I don't think I'm being overly cautious by

saying I would not use Origanum or Tea Tree in my ear.

Y'all keep smiling, Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
