Guest guest
Hi again, I was just given this link and I'm very impressed after going through the entire site and registering to help: http://www.oidelivers.org/ In brief " Operation Interdependence is a civilian-to-military delivery system that serves as a program for Americans to demonstrate their support for our deployed military. " Please contact this organization if you'd like to do something. As Kathleen said, regardless of how one feels (and every opinion and feeling is valid) this is all about supporting these men and women who were called to serve. If you're interested in helping boost the morale of the troops with words of support there's a project called " Operation AWSOM " (Americans Who Support Our Military) to send words of gratitude and support to these troops who've put their lives on the line after being called to duty. They've made the *choice* to serve their country and for that I know that I'm personally grateful. Their mission is to " Show the members of our military that Americans love and support them " . Here's their message: >Operation AWSOM We have been inundated with images and reports from the media of citizens protesting war and the presence of our military in and around Iraq. These messages are getting through to our military loud and clear. It portrays to them a nation with many of their own people who berate their existence and purpose ~ to protect and serve the United States Americans. As you can imagine, their morale is not at their highest and they feel set apart from the American people in this time where we need to unite. Just a line of thanks or support would lift the spirit of many military members so far from home. Will you please help to strengthen the morale of our military who have been apart from their families and called to serve? Please send a separate email to OperationAWSOM with a note of thanks or support. This is not an issue of whether you support war or not, this is an issue of counteracting the effects of protestors who have brought down the morale of the men and women who are called to serve and fight for all American rights. All emails will be printed and pasted to banners, which will be sent to troops and ships already located in the Middle East. No email address or header will be printed, but you may include your name and your state or country in the body of your message, if you wish. Help us boost the morale of our American Military. Please forward this message to everyone you have listed in your email address book.< They've also got a group at: http://groups.msn.com/OPERATIONAWSOM Sorry for posting all of this to the list, but I know that there are so many of you wanting to help right now and I wanted to pass along everything I've run into so far. (This all stemmed from a small effort in a private group that quickly grew into something bigger). Take care, Stacey Platinum - Watch CBS' NCAA March Madness, live on your desktop! http://platinum.
