Guest guest
Hi Kathleen, (Lots of snipping) > The only thing left is the hope that as few people as possible on > EITHER side are hurt. That certainly bothers me as much .. and perhaps more than it does many people. When I think of it my morale becomes lower than whale dung. > " I'm happy to see that the US Congress .. Democrats and Republicans, > are behind the President and the Troops " > > > They have no choice now. Neither do we. We either stand behind him > > and the soldiers over there, or we stand behind Hussein. The could have a choice if our system was not as it is .. I don't see the same thing here in Turkey and in many of the world's Parliaments. > As much as I disagree and dislike the way things were/are shoved down > our throats, as much as I dislike the way absolutely everything else > has been ignored, from the economy, to N. Korea, to the feelings of > his own people, I am now forced into a position of supporting the > president and his decisions. Glad to hear that .. it will make you feel better .. and those around you too. If and when I think there is a need to criticize President Bush I promise to be one of the first to do it. > So. Yes, I support the President, but I sure as hell don't have to > like it! True .. but its better for our morale to try to like it methinks. Or at least to try to look at it as having some value instead of being a deal that rubs us wrong continuously. Attitudes and opinions are personal as underwear and though most folks have both they don't necessarily share the same preferences nor does their preference make them right or wrong. Others will disagree with us and then at some point they may make a big flip flop and come around to our way of thinking. > I just hope he brings our people home quickly and safely with as few > deaths and injuries as possible. I don't think everybody will come home quickly but I certainly hope we can pass this conflict with a minimum of bloodshed on either side. > Stay safe, the days ahead are going to be very rough there. Already > I've heard of trouble near the southern border of Turkey. Thanks .. things are starting to suck here now. I'm not happy with the latest decision of the Turkish Parliament .. nor are most of the people I talk with. Whereever this 80%-90% of Turks being against the war are hiding is a mystery to all of us .. everybody I know disbelieves it and thinks it was pure propaganda as there were no real polls taken. This decision today could result in some BAD things going down and even have a negative effect on the attitudes of the ignorant toward Americans .. me being one of them American critters. Some of the newspapers are saying that the so-called moderate Moslem AK Party appears to be a closet Islamic Fundamentalist Party with intent to destroy relations with the best friend they have .. America. The Embassy has sent four warning emails since last night. And Saddam has said he will hit Turkey .. he will too because he is a madman. The Israelis stayed out on purpose .. it was not even announced that they had agreed to give America overflight clearance .. and they made it real clear that even though they had not joined in the Gulf War and had no intentions of joining in this one .. they would retaliate if attacked. Damned if Saddam didn't fire a SCUD at Israel today .. the boy has a death wish methinks and I hope we can help him fulfill that wish soon. > >hoping for a coup, a surrender or a quick end< > K Yep .. me too. And I'm holding on to a thin hope that Saddam made his tape prior to the bombing .. that he's under snakes now. That would track as he would want to maintain order for the benefit of his sons. Y'all keep smiling, Butch
