After all, remind your daughter that he's not out rolling in the dirt or anything like that. I HATE Cradle Crap! Hate it, Hate it, HATE IT!!! My eldest STILL has some of that on her scalp, simply because I was washing her little head so much... Cures (HA!), Our old friend olive oil again. Put a little on the scalp, leave it in for as long as possible (over night is best) and then (viscous circle) wash it out. It will help to loosen the old garbage. IF it's not too bad yet, just tell her to stop washing the babys hair for a while and do it as infrequently as she can stand. It will help to stop it from caking up. They alway say not to pick. Great advice! However I'm a long term picker. I only do it on very old stuff and VERY gently. One thing she will notice when/if she does pick it off, is that the hair will come out with the Crap. Normal. New hair has a tough time growing through that crap! Don't know if you found anything useful in this... hope so though! Cheers! Guest guest Posted March 16, 2003 Report Share Posted March 16, 2003 Cradle Cap- Saturate baby's head with oil- infused calendula would be ideal- massage it in and cover with a hat for several hours. A toothbrush may be used to gently " scrub " the patches off as much as possible- then use a castile soap to wash and rinse with a mild solution of water and apple cider vinegar- it may take few tries but it should work... I had to do this about once a week. Now, keep in mind, he didn't have much hair, so this was an easy process. I'd gently massage vegetable oil into his scalp. Then I'd use one of those soft, soft newborn baby brushes and sort of swirl it around his scalp, working in the oil, and this loosened the flakes. Then he'd get his bath, and I'd use a baby shampoo to wash away the oil and flakes. He'd have a flake-free scalp for about a week. I haven't seen it but Nicola tells me it's really nasty and had even crept down on to his forehead. He has quite a lot of hair which doesn't help. She has been rubbing oil in but it hasn't had much effect so far I like your idea Michelle of leaving a hat on - thanks I'll pass that on! and the idea of a toothbrush too Yes Christy - she's about to go and get one of those lovely soft brushes - so now she has two chices of brush! I like the idea of Rescue Remedy and I use the essences quite a lot myself, but not sure if it would go in nicely - we'll try! And Kathleen - I have to tell you that she's never shampooed that precious little head!, in fact doesn't use soap either yet I'm going down soon and if it's not getting shifted, I shall have to have a go at all these suggestions. Guest guest Posted March 17, 2003 Report Share Posted March 17, 2003 I used a natural veggie oil when Sean was " flakey " - just massaged it into his head and brushed it out with a soft baby brush.
