One was from someone claiming to be an orphan whose aunt wanted her to join her cousins in prostition. Her supposed goal was to come to America and become a Doctor. She asked for advice. I answered with some advice (not very nice advice either!!!) and have not received that one again. I am so glad things are going well with you. Paul said to tell you hi and he really likes listening to me read your posts to him. He retired from the Navy (poor him ;-) ) He follows the news but having someone that is still around a lot of the news as it happens is something he likes to hear about. Especially he likes hearing another military person's outlook. Your outlook always seems to be what he and I have been discussing......hmmm I don't think it is coincidental. (grin) > How goes it? < Everything here is great, me included. We were without electricity for over 24 hours (Wednesday evening to Thursday evening) due to hurricane force winds (Level 1 and sometimes Level 2 type winds). We had wild fires, flooding, windows blown out and roofs torn off. Haven't heard that anyone died or was hurt. The emergency people were absolutely great. Insurance companies believe the damage will total in the billions. Our airports, of course, got it the worse. We still have pretty high winds today. Temp is 1 degree with wind chill of minus 18. Just went out to start my car and it is pretty nice out. Sunny, no clouds - just the wind blowing. The store is doing great. Adding a new product line each month, which my customers just love. Those oranges sound fantastic even though I am not much of a citrus lover at all. Now, give me a cornfield with some nice ripe corn and I will take a cob, husk it, rinse it off and eat it right there! But you know what I am talking about. Guest guest
Hey Cheryl, > Hey Butch, How goes it? First .. lemme tell you that variations of the Nigerian Scam have been going on since the 1920s .. think about that. Means they are making something from it. Send enough posts (used to be letters) and you'll find a sucker or two. > What do you think these spammers think they will gain if someone > accepts their offer? Depends on how gulliable and how GREEDY they are .. its greed that draws a reply. Almost without exception, the spammers come right out with the fact that the money is ill-gotten .. though there have been some slants on it lately where it appears the writer is a victimized woman, etc. I get 2-3 a day .. below is one I received just today. Point is .. those who follow through deserve what they get and what they get depends on how far one is willing to go .. its laid out in this URL from http://hoaxbusters.ciac.org/HBScams.shtml#nigerian419 > Hugs to you and am glad you are doing fine. Take care of yourself. Thankee m'am .. appreciate it and that I will. :-D Y'all keep smiling, Butch http://www.AV-AT.com PS: We're in the middle of the seedless orange season now. I ain't one to eat oranges .. though I love to eat Turkish lemons .. skin and all. But these oranges are so fine that if Gawd had made anything better, He woulda kept it fer Himself. ;-p > ===== > Cheryl Smith > A Heavenly Body > 204 Muldoon Road > Anchorage AK 99504 -- MR JONATHAN JOHN AUDU, (BRANCH MANAGER) CHARTERED BANK PLC, LAGOS NIGERIA. My Dear, I am MR JONATHAN (JOHN) AUDU, Bank Manager of CHARTERED BANK of Nigeria, Lagos Branch.I made up my mind with trust to contact you for an urgent and very confidential business, knowing fully well that we had no previous dealings before. On December 6, 1998, an American Oil consultant/contractor with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Mrs.Ann Barbara Myers made a numbered time (Fixed) Deposit for twelve calendar months, valued at US$7,800,000.00(Seven Million five hundred thousand Dollars) in my branch.Upon maturity, I sent a routine notification to her forwarding address but got no reply. After a month,we sent a reminder and finally we discovered from her contract employers, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation that Mrs.Ann Barbara Myers died from a ghastly automobile accident. On further investigation, I found out that she died without making a WILL, and all attempts to trace his next of kin was fruitless. I therefore made further investigation and discovered that Mrs.Ann Barbara Myers did not declare any next of kin or relations in all her official documents, including her Bank Deposit paperwork in my Bank. This sum of US$7,800,000.00 is still sitting in my Bank and the interest is being rolled over with the principal sum at the end of each year. No one will ever come forward to claim it.According to Nigerian Law, at the expiration of 5 (five) years, the money will revert to the ownership of the Nigerian Government if nobody applies to claim this fund. Consequently, my proposal is that I will like you as a foriegner to stand in as the next of kin to Mrs.Ann Barbara Myers so that the fruits of this woman's labour will not get into the hands of some corrupt government officials. This is simple as long am here to direct and provide you with every in formation required. please feel free to provide immediately your full names and address so that the Attorney will prepare the necessary documents and affidavits which will put you in place as the next of kin. We shall employ the services of an Attorneys for drafting and notarization of the WILL and to obtain the necessary documents and letter of probate/administration in your favor for the transfer. We would need you as a Foreigner acting as the next of kin and sole benefactor to the inheritance of Mrs.Ann Barbara Myers to forward a calaim form to this Bank which am going to secure for you to claim this money into your bank account. The money will be paid to you for us to share in the ratio of 60% for me and 40% for you. There is no risk at all as all the paperwork for this transaction will be done by the Attorney and my position as the Branch Manager guarantees the successful execution of this transaction. If you are interested, please reply immediately via the private email address below. Upon your response, I shall then provide you with more details and relevant documents that will help you understand the transaction. All i want from you is honest and trustworthy. Please observe utmost confidentiality, and be rest assured that this transaction would be most profitable for both of us because because I shall require your assistance to invest my share in your country. Awaiting your urgent reply via email Thanks and regards. MR JONATHAN JOHN AUDU
