But those who realize that just because one is protesting against what may seem to be an unnecessary war, doesn't make them less of a patriot, is also " wise methinks " . I'm not aiming this directly at you Butch, but I do want to say that not every position is black and white. Do I think S. Hussein is a threat? Yes. Do I think he is an immediate threat? No. Do I think he's worth bankrupting the country over and ignoring a current more real threat (N.Korea), No. Do I think that we should attack without the backing of the UN? No. Does my opinion make me less of a patriot or an American? No. By the same token, does that make the person who disagrees with everything I just said wrong and less of an American or a patriot? No. And THAT is one of the things that makes this country special and uniqe, there is room for all points of view and there SHOULD be tolerance as well. Alas, these days there doesn't seem to be much of that. From the ranting and raving about the French who have the balls to stick to what they believe in, to the absolute idiocy that anyone who agrees with the current stance of the administration are traitors and should be shot, tempers are short, common sense is in short supply and idiocy is running rampant on both sides of the issue... The one thing that seems clear, is that whether one is for the invasion of Iraq or not, it doesn't matter. Bush is going to do what Bush is going to do. At this point in time, he is completely focused on Iraq. If France, Germany, Russia and almost every other country that can't be bribed in one way or another, can't stop him, what makes the war protesters think they can? The only thing left to hope and pray for is that the war is short and that none of those brave men and women get in harms way. >sigh<
Guest guest
Thanks for posting that Kathleen, I don't usually join in political discussion on this group as its members are mostly from US. There is a huge anti war feeling over here at the moment and its generally felt thatt you could substitute the name Blair for Bush in the sentence below. >The one thing that seems clear, is that whether one is for the invasion of >Iraq or not, it doesn't matter.
