Guest guest
Hi Chris and Everybody.... I'm back on my lists now after major computer problems. New e-email address, same eo-sniffing addict! Congrats on the baby, Chris. And way to go with your successful homebirth! I live in the Phoenix area, and was able to attend the Conference this year for the first time. Past years we've been out-of-state, and I've got little ones at home, so couldn't swing the travelling. It was recommended by past participants to NOT pay for any of the classes. A couple of them interested me, but I ended up only attending a few of the freebies. They were so-so, but it was very exciting for me to get to meet some of these individuals involved in the production of essential oils. At the trade show I got to smell some groovy oils. Artichoke absolute!?! Mango absolute!?! Who woulda thought....artichoke?? Also some beautiful emerald-green-colored Emerald Cypress eo, and tons others, too numerous to name. Got to meet those very nice Indian guys who do the CO2's. I'd love to see more CO2's on the market, they are incredible smelling. Met Suzanne Catty who was selling some of her hydrosols. She had some Blue Lotus Hydrosol which was $40.00 an oz!!!!!! On Sunday, she was spritzing it in little cups of champagne to pass out. Mmmmmmmmm. Also met up with other folks who attended, most of whom I had met in Tucson when Martin Watts came out to do a class at the Sorenson's shop. To sum it up, the classes were hit or miss....some were good, some were not. The free food was awesome!!! Lots of free samples of donated health food for the event, boy did I take advantage of that. The trade show was fun, fun fun for me. So many oils to smell, I got dizzy. And it was so wonderful to meet up with my on-line friends. But most of all, for ME, it was just so very exciting to be in a roomfull of like-minded people who were as interested in the subject as I have been. The past 5 years I've been a stay-at-home mom to two little ones and felt very isolated at times, especially where eo's are concerned. My dh does not share my interest, and I don't know anyone IRL who does, so I'm forced to share my enthusiasm and interest on-line, which is fine, but I long to swap oil stories face-to-face sometimes, ya know? So the Conference was a thumbs up for me, for the social reasons.
