Guest guest
I really must comment on this --- as a 50 yom of 3 (in their 20s). I cannot believe the number of new mothers who choose to be drugged during childbirth and then choose to bottle-feed their babies. During the 70s and early 80s natural childbirth (Lamaze) was the way to go and I am so thankful every day for the opportunity to experience the birth of my children and have the close relationship with them during nursing. I think that has largely contributed to our close relationship even now. OK --- of my high horse now!! Michelle Morton-niyama wrote: > > > > LOL I'll have to remember that and use it. I had my first in a birth center and the other two at home- I feel fully blessed to have experienced the power of my body and the miracle of birth fully aware! (well on my own built in pain relievers!) Michelle
Guest guest
As a 30 year old mother of 3 (all under 6) I agree with this. I was given an epidural with my first (because that is just what the hospital did and it was my first and I was naive) but not with my 2nd or 3rd. And I was really glad I didn't. With my fourth I chose to have one (she was stillborn) because I didn't think I could emotionally handle labor after all that. Turned out to be a good thing, too. But I wonder if I should have gone natural. Anyway, I am grateful that I chose natural for my two younger kids!! So, I'm right up there on that high horse with you. Guest guest
OK, I usually stay out of conversations like this but here goes . . . I also have opinions but I think the most important thing is that EVERYONE is allowed to make THEIR OWN decisions on these issues and not be criticized for it. We all have our own unique situation and to make blanket statements is unfair. I have 4 children. TRIED to breastfeed all of them but was not successful with one of them, two of them I could only manage to have enough breast milk for 2 or 3 months and one was totally successful for nine months. Three of them were born while I was TOTALLY sedated and hubby away in a hospital waiting room (that was the way it was done then) and one born with no drugs of any kind with my husband at my side. FACT - I am close to EVERYONE of them. Not one of them is loved more or less and they all (now in their 30s) seem emotionally stable. -Helen - Jan Gifford Tuesday, March 04, 2003 10:37 AM Re: OT: LACtivist I really must comment on this --- as a 50 yom of 3 (in their 20s).
