" Yeah- I heard it on line and there actually is a website www.lactivist.com This is really opinionated but I just cant understand why someone would have a baby and feed the artificial milk- when women are told they dont make enough milk they need to find another support system. It is so unfortunate- when I see the pleasure- so much more than just the milk- that my infants get from the close contact and warmth...I feel so sad for the babies that dont get to experience this. Guest guest
> > This is really opinionated but I just cant understand why someone > would have > a baby and feed the artificial milk- I agree. I have always had an excess amount of milk to the point where I could be nursing on one side and hold a cup up to the other side and get 8 oz. of milk easy, without pumping. So I would do that a lot and freeze the milk for times when I would be away or to add to food when they're older, but what always amazed me was that I could tell when my kids needed more fat or more liquid because the milk would change. No formula can do that! My DH is a big time breast feeeding supporter (maybe even moreso than I am) and he thinks that's so cool that my body knows how to make just what baby needs. I just can't imagine knowing that and not wanting to give that to my baby and going for the fake stuff instead. > when women are told they dont make > enough milk they need to find another support system. How true! There are so many " reasons " women are given for not nursing (medication, low supply, etc. I have even heard, " My baby was big at birth so he needed formula. " ) that if they would just go to a good support person (a midwife, good doctor, lactation consultant) they would find alternatives (different medication, etc.) or that what they've been told is plain old wrong. -- <>< Erin HomeSchooling my Trio; 6 yo Entertainer, 5 yo Warrior, 3 yo Comedian Countdown to Sprout's Arrival: 4 weeks!
