my son has rosacea. He asked me to find out what blends would be good

for him. I can find lots of info on eczema and psoriasis, but can't seem

to find anything on rosacea. PLEASE help me out here! TIA!!

I also have rosacea. I have been using a cream from Purple Emu that is really

clearing my face up. It took mine a bit longer to clear up than normal but it

is going now. I still have a little redness on one cheek but the painful

breakouts are gone. I ordered it on line from Purple Emu and really like it. I

will continue to use it. It is all natural and the lady that sells it is very

helpful. She has roseacea and had this cream developed specifically for this.

Hope this helps.

Except, isn't Violet leaf a known skin irritant?

Good point! :-D Just thought I should mention it, as it seems senseless

to me to use a known skin irritant on irritated skin. If you like,

there are authors who are more reliable for safety info than Valerie

Worwood has the reputation of being.

Best Wishes-

Lynda

I know, Worwood is fine for looking up recipes, but I need, need, need

Martin Watts, Sylvia Shepard-Hangar and that Italian guy, LOL! But like the

helicyrsum, they always get postponed!

Debbie,

If you make creams and lotions these are a must have!

The information could save a lot of trouble.

Can you tell me who is a reliable source of information, I have many

aromatherapy books but not sure who to really believe in :) Thanks to those

who answered about my eczema, I truly appreciate it.

LOL! That Italian guy! :-D They are all good, and you will feel like

they are worth every penny. DOn't feel bad, we all start off with

Worwood, et al, before we spend the $$ for the really, really good ones.

Hey, we all have to start at the beginning, and I can understand why

oils take precedence! I always think Worwood has a tendency to use 48

oils in her recipes when probably 1 or two will do. Someone told me

once (I don't remember who or where) that of the say 40ish oils that you

will know pretty well and have on hand (mine is WAY above that, as far

as having on hand) you will only use maybe 15 on a regular basis, and

you will find that your little collection will work for just about

everything you can throw at them.

So promise yourself that you are in for a treat, buy yourself some Heli,

and start with Martin's book first - or start with Battaglia, and then

graduate to Martin and Sylla.

Best wishes-

Lynda

Well, the hands-down best is Martin Watt's 'Plant Aromatics. " That

gives you the very best and most reliable information on how to use EOs

in skin products safely. Mind you, this is not a recipe book, but

rather guidelines as to what you can us in what dilutions. For more

specific information on what to use for what condition, I rely on Sylla

Shephard Hanger's " The Aromatherapy Practitioner's Reference Manual. "

They are both available from Butch, the latter is a bit pricey (or so

you will think until you start to see how much use you get out of it),

but worth the expense. Not perfect, but the best that is out there now.

I have been threatening for a few years now to write a book on skin

care/aromatherapy, but there you go, that will probably happen when I am

old and gray!

Thanks Lynda,

I don't have his book. Is it worth my money to

get it or is it a beginner's book?

Cheryl-

I think his book is really very good. Helped me to finally understand

chemistry, and he has great things like a massage routine, information

about safety of EOs and toxicity, etc. I like it very much and still

refer to it from time to time when I see something that rings a bell and

I know he has the answer in here somewhere.

Stay warm-

Lynda
