Do any of you know of any other gate point combinations besides

the " 4-gates "

One of my instructors had mentioned a few other gate point

combinations and the meaning of them but I am unable to find

where I had written them down.

Thanks

Brian

Brian,

The name " 4 Gates " is generally rerserved for the combination of

those two bilateral points, much like the " 4 Flowers " is reserved

for the bilateral combination of Ge Shu and Dan Shu. It is merely

just a name to represent such a powerful combination of two

highly effective Yuan - Source points. Possibly the combinations

that one of your instructors passed on to you included a combo

of other various Yuan - Source points. Also generally the points

of strong influence such as HeGu and TaiChong belong to the

Ma Dan Yang Heavenly star point categorisation, so looking

there might answer your question some more.

Hi Brian,

Look for stems and branches available in some books, Liv and Colon are

" unlike stems " which are said to have a calming effect overall. There

are other pairings in this method of classification, stems and branches

is a whole world of study in itself.

Hey Brian,

There are no other " gate points. " There are the four doors, R 6, 12 and st

25 for digestive issues. Perhaps this is what he was referring to. -Jaz

There is a system of gate points presented in Rheumatology in Chinese

Medicine by Guillaume. I don't recall it being traditional, but I futzed

with it for a while and it was interesting. The initial idea was to use

points with a " guan " gateway name to open the various major joints of the

body, hips knees ankles, wrists elbows shoulders, and that pain conditions

could reflect either a failure of movement into or out of an area, so there

ended up being two valve points for each joint, generally located near but

not always on the joint effected. And I don't think they stayed with the

point name theory for very long. Some of them seemed to make sense in terms

of the way I think about energetic/fascial planes of movement, and some were

odd, but check it out if you have access.

More to your point, I too recall another gates treatment, but can't remember

what was involved, sorry.
