Guest guest
P.S. For larger body areas, the " TDP " lamp works well. This purportedly emits " far-infrared " radiation ( " light " but not in the visible range) which penetrates with out marked burning at the surface (goes well through clothing without heating it up). My understanding is that one of the qualities of AiYe (pinyin for the moxa herb) punk is that it also burns emiting far-infrared radiation. I.e. with sparrow-pecking technique, the acu-point (e.g. ZuSanLi) gets quite warm and goes deep into the point, right to the edge of a burning like pain to the patient, without blistering or marked redness on the skin, sometimes with a mild pinking at the point. Again, this is in my experience. (Note: I recall when the TDP lamps came out, ca. 1989-1990, the distributor loaned a couple to the student clinic at PCOM/San Diego. Then the price was high, in the range of $1000, if I recall. Mid to late 1990's, when I bought my first ones, it was ca. $250. Now they're regularly on sale from the discount Chinese or Korean suppliers (mostly in Southern California) for less than $100.)
