Guest guest
Joe, It is commonplace that agendas are awash inside conspiracy frameworks, easy is it also to place causative legislation to organisations who would " seem " to benefit. Certainly the amendment is fraught with possibilities and the implications for the profession are a grave concern (that unfortunately too few are making energetic motions towards), but it is not public knowledge that CMA is the proposal actor of the amendment, nor is it understood that Figueroa met with anyone prior to making moves in that direction. Also, the profession prospered without insurance, though to be sure this will be a heavy blow to practitioners, we will survive. One needs simply to consider the backlash once this actually comes out of the shadows. Let us hope this can be averted. I do not have the luxury to read your blog, though you do have my appreciation for your consideration to the matter. Skeptisicm is lame, but accusal without proof is worse, and worse yet becoming wrapt in an enemy draws out your power. If we simply had a lobby in Sacramento, we would not have had the Worker's Comp loss, nor be facing down this barrel, it is a matter for us as a profession regardless of outside agencies, as long as we are seperate as a profession any agent can exercise their will. I think one needs not to be concerned identity on this public list, however... Tymothy Smith (affiliation: student of TCM) The May 3 additions to SB233 read in part: Nothing in this section shall be construed to authorize an acupuncturist to diagnose any physical or mental disorder pursuant to Sections 2038 and 2052. This was proposed by the CMA. That is public knowledge. But actually it is the content that means something, not who proposes it. There is no shortage of potential beneficiaries if it came to shutting us down. Request for language that limited diagnosis to certain conditions was made by Senator Figueroa in a private meeting with reps from a few organizations. If you have any further question of the veracity of my assertions, I suggest you first identify yourself (full name and affiliation) This is a public list. Next, skepticsm is lame, but to your credit it is better than the non-reaction of a few thousand sheep who will contine to be lead around by chiropractors, insurance reps, and narrow-minded educators until it is too late, and then they will throw the i-ching and pose ill-informed questions to the wrong people. READ my essays. If you find some point that is debatable, come back with some sensible discussion. Beyond that , you should simply concur and start working toward resolution that is mutually beneficial. Unless of course you are actually one of the opposition. I already stated that the attack is not about to readily go away; nor am I going to divulge what counter-measures I know are feasible. Whoever has been teaching students that they can't diagnose should be strung up. It makes no difference what state you are in - if you are practicing acupuncture or herbs, you MUST EVALUATE. And if you don't, that is clearly a public safety violation, and you are asking to be shut down. Joe Reid " No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.
