Guest guest
The talk I gave at the Alliance conference " Do You Believe in he Yellow Emperor? " confirmed my belief that many acupuncturists/OM practitioners are very interested in question regarding the roots of our healing art, especially the role Taoist influences may of had. The talk was well attended and I received much positive feedback. I also asked participants to answer a question regarding their belief in how old acupuncture is. Of the 16 responses out of the 25 or so attendees, 8 said around 5,000 years old ( two of those said maybe older), 6 said around 3,000 years old ( two of those said maybe older), and 2 said around 2,000 years old. 14 of the 16 respondents then, were out of step with what modern scholars believe. I suspect such opinions are pretty typical for most acupuncturists - although perhaps not quite that high a percentage. I look forward to continuing to address this and related questions as I believe discussion of these issues are important to the future growth of our field. I will reprise this talk at this year's Pacific Symposium and am also open to speak on this issue (or any other subject addressed in my book) at schools or other venues. Anyone interested in arranging an informal talk or more formal CEU seminar can contact me off-list or through my web site at www.MatthewDBauer.com
Guest guest
The last few sentences of my previous message was cut-off yet again. My wife says I go on too long and I guess the Internet either agrees. Guest guest
After reading much of Matt's new book, my understanding of the Yellow Emperor, Yin/Yang and Qi have been greatly clarified. I feel now that I have at least the basics down, I can move on further understanding the complex aspects of TCM. Matt's book really should be required reading for any new beginners to TCM. Without a good foundation you can't build upon.
