Hi Janet,

There is an experienced Chinese lady offering Acupuncture on site at The

Hippocrates Institute in West Palm Beach www.hippocratesinst.org It is a

living food detox centre where I spent 3 months learning to be a Hippocrates

Health Educator. They also have other therapies and classes for teaching the

patients about their mental, emotional and spiritual issues and general info and

classes on envrionmental toxins etc. There is a doctor continually on site.

They follow through the cases with full blood tests as well as live blood cell

analysis and dark field microscopy. Patients/guests can stay there or have

therapies as an outpatient I believe. They are not only experienced but

specialize in people with serious illness such as people with cancer of any type

at any stage and have totally phenominal results. The Institute has been going

50 years and attracts people from all over the globe and is relatively near Fort

Lauderdale (it used to be in Boston). The results I saw there defied anything I

had ever seen in 20 years travelling the world studying Natural Medicine

including China. As an example most diabetes mellitis patients they treat there

don't need their medication after only 2 days!!! The very complicated cases can

take up to 3 weeks and it's permanent! Having done their practitioner course I

now use and teach their methods in combination with TCM and the results I am

getting is beyond my wildest dreams! But it requires full patient participation

especially with diet and detoxing.

If you have any questions do feel free to contact me on/off line.

All the best

Nadia

It is undoubtedly true that fasting can accomplish some amazing things, and

maybe with grass juice rehabilitate the Islet cells or whatever, but the chief

demand of the raw food cult is tunnel-vision. I was with them a long time ago

first in Boston and then working their mini-farm, and the spiel right down to

the

live blood cell analysis is virtually unchanged over 25 years. Brian C. always

had the True Believer in him to make for great salesmanship, and there is

influential power in unwavering certitude, but they have no qualms about

boasting of cures when the temporary remission that frequently follows such

drastic change is more like it. " But it requires full patient participation

especially with diet and detoxing " hits the nail on the head, because it can be

brutal and intolerable to many, who are then berated for their lack of will. It

is

irresponsible to refer Cancer patients to be hustled, unless they do so with

full

awareness that it is experimental, and almost certainly more rough going than

chemo and rad. In my opinion, anyway.

That is a common misunderstanding. Diabetes isn't really about the

pancreas failing to make insulin.

Diabetes is more about insulin resistance.

What a program like the Hippocrates pogrom does is decrease insulin

resistance which reduces the need for insulin supplementation.

As a side note, as far as I can see,,,, many chronic problems people have

these days is related to inefficient fatty acid or sugar metabolism. Deal

with those and most people feel better, last longer and many diseases will

mysteriously go away. Live food programs do help restore metabolic efficiency

in

many people and therefor will " cure " many problems

I agree it is not a cure all and blindly believing it will cure what

ails ya no matter what is dangerous and foolish.

IMHO,

Chris

Dear Alon,

Apart from the adjunctive acupuncture support (as well as other CAM therapies)

the main foundation of the treatment is principally dietary. It is not TCM diet

although in my own practice I try as best I can to translate the diet into TCM

philosophy which actually works quite well for me. The point is it works for

most of my patients who are inspired to do it so I use it. To find out more

fully I suggest you go to their web site : www.hippocratesinst.org.

However I will relate here a little of the program which is the foundation for

people with any pathology to whatever degree including people with diabetes.

Hippocrates puts everyone on the same basic detox with variation and changes

according to particular needs. The detox is for 3 weeks and is called the 'Life

Change Program'. The basic program is Breakfast: juiced watermelon juice (not

for diabetics) or juiced cucumber. Diabetics get a hot cooked bowl of sprouted

Quinoa. 11am juice of cucumber and celery (celery not for hypertension as the

sodium raises blood pressure). Lunch is a huge buffet of 50% living sprouts such

as Alfalfa, Radish, Onion, Cabbage, Broccali, Fenugreek, Mung, Mustard,

Sunflower and so on. Plus a huge all you can eat buffet of salads and only raw

food (this is not very TCM but with the 50% living sprouts which is vibrant with

active Qi which is warming, transporting, transforming etc works very well in

tonifying the spleen Qi!). all different salads with seaweeds, sauerkraut,

garlic, dressings, radishes, nuts or avocados and so on. 4pm is another juice

of cucumber and celery. 5.30 pm is another buffet identical to the lunch time

one. Fasting on cucumber and celery juice is every wednesday broken at 5.30 pm

with a green raw soup. Diabetics do the fasting or not depending on their blood

sugar levels. Every morning and afternoon each person is expected to juice

themselves 2 oz of wheatgrass. Highly advised during the detox is twice daily

water enemas self administered followed by implants of 4 ozs of wheatgrass.

Also occasional colonics are advised. Diabetics are advised to eat as much live

sprouted Fenugreek seeds (Hu Lu Ba) as they can as it is extremely helpful in

reducing blood sugar levels. They are also given Fenugreek seed drops in a non

alcohol glyercine base. However they are advised not to eat the lemons (freely

available on the buffet counters) as this raises blood sugar levels. Each

person is seen by the doctor on arrival and blood test is taken on arrival and

leaving and at other times if necessary. Live blood cell analysis and dark

field microscopy appointments are also made for before and after the detox

program. Throughout the day and evening there are on going lecture programs on

taking responsibility for one's health. Plus mineral pools, gym, hot and cold

plunge pools etc.

The maintenance program is a water enema once a week, juices daily and

continuation of the living sprouts and raw foods as much as possible. This

depends on the needs of each individuals health challenge. People with cancer

are advised to remain quite strictly on the program until significant health

elevations have occurred. This may be only 3 weeks or could be 3 months. It is

a taught program which you learn and take home and utilise at what ever level

you wish.

Obviously people only on oral diabetic medication do much better much faster. ie

those on Glucotrol and Glucophage as well as Avandia and Orbinase are generally

off their medication within 3 days. Insulin dependent type II takes more time

and management but generally after 3 weeks they can be off medication. The % of

success I cannot say but it is significant. If you are interested I suggest you

telephone the Director; Brian Clements and ask him or his wife Ana Marie for the

stats. They also have success helping children and people with type l diabetes

who often no longer need insulin. My friend who was on 2000mg of glucophage

started the detox with blood sugar levels of 180, which dropped in one day to

140 and by the third day she was down to 500mg of glucophage and 2 days after

that was completely medication free and has been ever since. She has to be

vigiliant as she is still severely obese but her blood sugar is fine now and

this was 2 years ago. She doesn't eat much raw and living food now because of a

hectic life but feels much better when she does include some of the Hippocrates

raw and living foods. She did say that during the first three days she needed

apples in the middle of the night because of her blood sugar but that only

lasted 3 days.

On the program they also use digestive enzymes and some herbs as well as algaes

and seaweeds etc.as required for each individual. Personally I prescribe TCM

herbs alongside the dietary program to my patients accordingly. I teach them

how to do a modified version of the above (unless they have cancer in which case

I suggest they go to Florida for 3 weeks) which they can do according to their

lifestyle. Frankly the changes in my patients is inspirational but they have to

be self motivated and it's not for the faint hearted.

Apologies for the long winded reply

Best wishes,

Nadia

Dear Alon,

Yes! Interesting isn't it? As a Western Herbalist I too was taught that celery

SEED (Apium graveolens) is helpful in reducing hypertension. However the actual

Celery PLANT/VEGETABLE at Hippocrates they have found that it definately raises

BP. The Ayurvedic energy of Celery veg (sorry don't have the TCM to hand) is

Astringent, sweet, salty and Pungent and cold. It is high in Sodium therefore

would retain water except that as an action celery is diuretic! also astringent

and a nervine. The SEEDS are hot, stimulant carminative, emmenagogue,

antispasmodic.

In Ayurvedic medicine the salty taste is made up of fire and water and is

Heating in TCM it is Yin and Cooling! descending and sinking. Ayurvedic says

the salty taste is heating because it is irritating and burning ie when rubbed

on open wounds. In TCM the salty taste is regarded as cooling because it is

heavy, sinking and inert. Both agree it is moistening and water retaining.

Anyone got any further input on Celery seeds or veg?
