USA here,

answering my own question...

after looking at http://acaom.org/accdtd_cndtdschls.htm

and surfing ALL of the listed websites this evening:

* 56 accredited and candidate schools listed

* 31 were granted candidacy 1995 or later

* 16 either founded 1995 or later or don't say when they were founded (some i

suspect

were in existence before 1995... candidacy usually doesn't happen the same year

as the

school is founded ... also at least one was apparently a branch campus of

another school

which has since folded)

* 14 of those 16 survive

* 7 granted candidacy in 2000 or later either founded w/in last 5 yrs or don't

say (only 1 of

those actually says in the website or the catalog when it was founded).

Several accredited programs listed on the website have folded, there is at least

one more

(NIAOM) that was not listed, and i'm sure several more that couldn't handle

accreditation

and thus couldn't get financial aid, etc and compete with the schools that had

the

organization and capital to survive the process have also bit the dust... hard

to tell how

many, though.

Anyway, i'm off to rest my eyes... good night...
