The Times' resident doctor, Dr Thomas Stuttaford, discusses the fact that

the introduction of PSA testing now means that younger men can be diagnosed

with prostrate cancer in the earlier stages. He goes on to say that young

men now taking the option of radical surgery should take heart. In the

latest series of 3477 consecutive radical retropubic prostectomies, 93 per

cent of those younger than 50 who had the modified radical were potent after

surgery.
