Hi everyone

I am hoping you can help!

I am a newly qualified Acupuncturist and have a patient coming to see

me with long standing raynauds. I know I need to see him to syndrome

diagnose but was wondering if there were any points that are

particularly useful for this condition?

I've learnt a lot from this site by the way! Thanks to all who write in

it.

Thanks

Sharon C.

It's easier and quicker to diagnose 5 E profile than to figure out a

topical approach.

However if you want a useful intervention while 5 E is being created:

1. Find asymmetry, see shoulder height, check torso turning for Dai

problems,

see leg length when prone on table and feet hanging free.

If there si, and I am almost certain there is at the shoulders for

Renaud to come about,

set it right with simple reflex releases.

2. Find out if there is an 8 Oceans imbalance. A very simple way

is to palpate all 8 points for any anomaly.

If found, and you are likely to see this on SJ - Dai connection, set it

right with tiny seed and

thread moxa.

I imagine GB 41 and SJ 5 will be tender.

3. Look at the Hara and see if any of the elements marked there are out

of line

Set these right with remote points.

4. Look at L and R ST 27 area or so for tenderness and induration. If

found this

alone could be the reason to a large extent for the problem.

To set these right work on L and R LV 4 and LU 5.

5. Look at the ears in good natural light and set right whatever you

find wrong.

You may find a discoloration on ram wrist area. This will be easiest

venue to set things right.

if you must treat locally, look for the bug in the scapula concerned.

Look at SI points, esp

ones near ridge of scapula towards the medial end.

Hi Sharron,

I have treated a fair amount of patients with Reynauds

Syndrome in the last 30 years. Basically I treat by

tongue and pulse. Some points however, have been

useful in every single case of Reynaus I have

encountered. SI3, (with gold needles) SJ5, (with gold

needles) B62, (with silver needles) GB41 (with silver

needles). Most importantly, the herbal formula that

has been of use in every instance is DANG GUI SI NI

TANG.

Hope this is useful.

Feel free to contact me directly for more info since i

seldom monitor the list these days.

Dear Sharon,

The first step has to be a complete diagnosis with pulse, tongue,

symptoms so that the pattern(s) can be determined. Otherwise, the

points are only symptomatic.

Good choice of points and herbs, Ron. I often use similar treatment

with my patients as well. The extraordinary vessels are very

important.
