Guest guest
Hi I'm updating my address book. Please below and enter your contact info for me: http://ringo.com/i?uid=gVtPoe.mHqE-WZDI & I'm using a new, free service where I put in my contact info for you, you put in your contact info for me, and everyone stays up to date automatically. It's surprisingly easy and useful. Thanks for your help. Val

That might not even be all they do. Well leave *me* out of it. Not only that, if you go to that website they could easily plant a worm or trojan into your computer so your computer would be sending the spam for them, as you are now to the TCM list. Why should the TCM list promote ringo.com? The same goes for plaxo, friendster and the others. If it is free how do you think they pay their help and take home paychecks themselves? Who *is* paying them? Think about that really, really hard. How hard is it for someone smart enough to be a doctor to manage a contact list, anyway? Why should anyone help you manage your contact list for free? They want to *have* your contact list! And then will you complain about how much spam and spyware you get " after you joined the TCM list " ? Here's a couple other opinions about ringo.com, in case anyone is interested. <http://lists.virus.org/full-disclosure-0502/msg00558.html> <http://reviews.cnet.com/5208-3513-0-10.html?forumID=104 & threadID=66002 & messageI\ D=784604 & start=-242> <http://www.networksecurityarchive.org/html/Focus-Virus/2005-03/msg00002.html> <http://realitycheck.org.au/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1036 & > Regards, Pete
Guest guest
Apart from the fact that this is off topic and God knows how it got pass the moderators in the first place, let me say a few things. Firstly, the contacts program I use, Plaxo, is used by millions the world over and carries a privacy policy. Now as they are associated with themselves in business then I think this paranoia of spammers buying up the email addresses is a little OTT and that the privacy policy is actually real. Spamming is illegal in the EC and has been for some time. The rest of the world needs to catch up. Ringo is not a very good program as to update your contact info you need to join them and download their software whereas with Plaxo you don't. There are spam programs that search the internet and harvest emails held on there, no matter where they are, i.e. from this group as well. And lastly, built in spam filters now take care of 99% of spam and automatically throw it into the spam folders. So I really don't see where all this paranoia and delusion is coming from, probably from watching the X-files too much!
