Guest guest
Can anyone offer any info on treating lipodystrophy in patients taking anti-retroviral meds from a TCM persepctive (particularly tx with herbal formulas)? I've tried Google Scholar, but so far haven't found any TCM info, only biomedical. Any ideas on the etiology of the fat moving around on the body - wasting in the periphery and accumulating in the center and at the dorsal-cervical juncture? thanks, RoseAnne S. Guest guest
I've been working with HIV+ patients for a number of years, so far I don't think Herbs or Acupuncture can help lipodystrophy. Lipodystrophy is caused by meds taken to control HIV. I started a program at our clinic using Tai Chi, that seems to help. The HIV Institute feels that exercise may reduce lipodystropy in some patients. maria k. - ra6151 Wednesday, March 23, 2005 0:19 am lipodystrophy > > Can anyone offer any info on treating lipodystrophy in patients > taking > anti-retroviral meds from a TCM persepctive (particularly tx with > herbal formulas)? > I've tried Google Scholar, but so far haven't found any TCM info, > only > biomedical. > > Any ideas on the etiology of the fat moving around on the body - > wasting in > the periphery and accumulating in the center and at the dorsal- > cervical > juncture? > > thanks, > RoseAnne S. > > >
Guest guest
I was at a seminar a few years ago where this topic was broached. The seminar leader showed some very impressive before and after photos of AIDS patients whose lipodystrophy was quite markedly improved with a regimen of weight lifting three times a week, just like you would recommend for anyone else who needed to tone their muscles.
