Hi Laura, that formula is made of: - jing jie 200g - bo he 60g - fang feng 100g - chai hu 100g - zi su ye 60g - ge gen 100g As the title of the formula indicates, it also clears heat (qing re). So this formula is only for external cold that is already transforming into heat. In China this formula is pre-packaged in little bags: - with sugar added: 12g per bag - sometimes wihtout sugar: 6g per bag Normal people can take the formula with the sugar, 1 bag at a time, 2x / day People with diabetes can take the formula without the sugar, also 1 bag at a time, 2x/ day Contra-indicated for people suffering from vacuity symptoms (especially vacuity sweat); people with spleen vacuity should follow doctor's instructions. Don't know if it's available outside of Asia though. Google? best wishes, Tom.

Guest guest
Laura, I recommend that you study Shang Han Lun in depth. It will do you tremendous good in the long run. The key to successful treatment of cold or flu (actually, for any problem) in CM is to carefully diagnose and come up with a correct Zheng pattern. As far as I have experienced, SHL gives us almost all we need to treat cold or flu. Sometimes, some of the Wen Bing experience make it very convenient too. Guest guest
i've read the shanghan lun un chinese e i'm reading now commentaries on it wrote around the half of XVIII sec. by Huang Yuanyu. it makes more easy to comprehend several passages. and as long as you mentioned the wen bing, the above author it states that the shanghan lun has been misinterpreted by Wang Shuhe (author of Mai Jing, classic of sphygmology)confounding the re bing as shanghan. by the way the shang han lun it is really interesting not only to understand the process of the 'flu', but most important are the relations among the six types of qi in their five element combinations. luigi Chinese Medicine , Mike Liaw <mikeliaw> wrote: > Laura, > > I recommend that you study Shang Han Lun in depth.
