Jason,

Those points were chosen as places that have been shown to work primarily on

pain. Dr. Z.H. Cho did some research with FMRI and acupuncture and the results

of his paper lead us to use those points in a great deal of complicated pain

patients.

We tried body points however it only seemed to exacerbate the pt's condition. At

the request of the patient we stay completely auricular.

Hello,

We have had a couple of patients with RSD at the clinic. One patient acquired

the RSD after having a cast on their leg too tight for too long. So lots of

symptoms of hypersensitivity to touch, pain with cold, wind.

The tx that seem to be the most effective with this person is doing auricular

acupuncture with the gold ASP needles. For this particular patient they get

great relief from symptoms placing the needles in the cingulate gyrus, thalamus,

red nucleus, and phase 3 of the lumbar. Relief lasted anywhere from 7-21 days

initially. Lately they seem to be able to go a few months before needing a " tune

up. "
