Most textbooks say to needle PC06 to a depth of 0.5-1 cun but some

practitioners go deeper, to skewer PC06 and TH05 with one needle.

Some sources (in Chinese) say 1-1.5 cun. See http://tinyurl.com/5r6sr

for example.

The Deqi sensation is very strong when one hits the PC06 point /

median nerve straight on! I routinely needle it to a depth of 1 cun (with

1.5 cun Hwato 30-gauge needle). Most humans that I needled there

could take that, but some hypersensitives preferred shallow needling of

PC06, or alternative points. I find HT07 easier to use in squeamish

people or strong responders.
