Guest guest
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone knows of a good brand of glucosamine, and what is a good starting dose. Thanks! Laura
Guest guest
Go to emersonecologics.com and set up an account. They sale only to health care prodessionals and carry mostly professional products. I believe designs for health has this product and they are a good company. Starting dosage is: 500 mg 3x per day for the first 8 weeks. Thanks! Hi Laura! I have been using NOW brand, " Extra Strength " , one at each meal. Knees are much better since I started GC, maybe five years or so ago. I was born 1-27-45, so it is about time for me to start having this sort of problem. I send my patients to the health food store for them. I stock only TCM stuff in my clinic. <www.nowfoods.com> Regards, Pete

Guest guest
As I am sure you are aware of the diffference in potency and quality of an herbal product, the same holds true for nutritional products. Guest guest
The problem with gelatine, imo, is that the chemical implants for cattle are in the ear and the ear is used as gelatine... what a shame as it was the cheapest source. Guest guest
I used to buy and resell beef gelatin. available at most bakery supply houses. By far the cheapest and its all the same stuff. Except I stopped promoting it a few years ago with the Mad Cow disease. Most of my clients inquiring about the source. Seems gelatin comes form the trachea, bones, cartilage hooves, etc (left-over) from cows. I do not know how the inspections goes or the possibilities, or that kosher inspects or detects, any elements of MCD. But many people stopped using beef gelatin related products. My sources could not confirm or deny any connection. Gelatin can be found in yogurts and other products as well. Most of the time the source of the gelatin will not be identified. I suppose its also the source for most of the glucosamine products on the market as well. I also found a lot more people requesting vegetable capsules instead of regular gelatin capsules. Guest guest
HI that has not been my experience. I find that a good quality " naturopathic " brand works better. When I bought a cheap version at the vitamin store it didn't work well. When I switched to a ND brand (I use Pure Encapsulations) it worked much better. Several of my patients have had the same thing happen with them also. Shad Reinstein, Bastyr University
Guest guest
This is also been my experience with several of my own patients including my family. If the product has not been assayed, etc. you really don't know how much is actually in the bottle regardless if it states a certain amount. This has been proven over and over again regarding the consistency of vitamins, herbs, etc. that are purchased thru a health food store, Costco's, etc.. I tell my patients to try it if they want and tell them my some of experiences. I actually recommended them to go to Capital Drugs that also carry professional brands to purchase it they seem hesitant. The last thing I need is for a patient to think I am trying to sale them something. Personally after all my years of practice the bottom line is, its there health and not my health. They can chose to do with it want they want to. Brian shadjody wrote: HI that has not been my experience. I find that a good quality " naturopathic " brand works better.
