Guest guest
Greetings all, After disasters, most relief agencies focus on providing food, shelter, and clean water. In the region of the US that I live (Northwest), an organization sends out biomedically-based teams in response to these events, but acupuncture isn't on their list of skills that they need. As a practitioner, I have to admit that I am just starting out (just got my license a few weeks ago), but have had some experience and success with PTSD in my clinical training. I would think that a team of acupuncturists would be helpful for dealing with post-traumatic stress on a large scale. I read that a group used a tapping sequence on a series of acupuncture points (Emotional Freedom Technique) to help aid workers deal with PTSD after the 9/11 incident and that Amnesty International has supported the use of body work to recover from the trauma and abuse of war. Does anyone have any ideas or know of anyone who has used acupuncture for this type of event or any instance in the history of CM where acupuncture was used to recover from a disaster? Thanks, TJ Eng
