Guest guest
Hi Are, & All, > " Young men who use laptops may be well advised to keep them off > their laps if they want to have children to e-mail someday, a new > study suggests. " John O'Neil. > This fact is now shown in a great survey here in Norway. Are Are, I could not find a reference to the NORWEGIAN study. What is the URL / reference? I did find a new paper on the same topic, from USA: " Increase in scrotal temperature in laptop computer users " by Yefim Sheynkin 1*, Michael Jung 1, Peter Yoo 1, David Schulsinger 1, and Eugene Komaroff 2 at http://tinyurl.com/5s3ag Medline [ http://tinyurl.com/3w9xl ] has 937 hits for the profile: (heating OR hyperthermi* OR temperature) AND (scrot* OR testic* OR testes) AND (sperm OR spermat* OR fertility OR infertility) AND (Male OR men) In human males, tha fabric of underpants is important. Some fabrics (polyester, nylon) generate electrostatic charges which can reduce spermatogenesis. 100% cotton underpants produce no electrostatic charge. See: http://tinyurl.com/6onvd Also, underpants that are too tight bring the scrotum tight to the body wall, or underpants that are very warm (insulating) raise scrotal temperatures. Either can increase testicular temperature and reduce sperm counts. Finally, as part of treating male infertility due to oligospermia, to ensure lowest possible scrotal temperature, advise them to wear loose, 100% cotton, slit-underpants (rather than Y-fronts), and to sit with their thighs apart, rather than with thighs closed. (Closed thighs do not allow scrotal heat to disperse effectively.. PS: Sheep farmers have known for >100 years that tying a ram's scrotum tightly to his body with a thick flannel scrotum-warmer reduces sperm counts. This effect was reversible by removing the scrotal warmer about 6 weeks ahead of the start of the breeding season.
