Guest guest
Hello everyone! I am forwarding Patty's email from the Toyohari acupuncture list, and I feel confident that there are acupuncturists on our list who can help her which will also in turn help our profession. In short, Patty is looking for research studies that can help WM doctors to know when to refer on to an acupuncturist. Please read her email below and reply to [sakedrops] Thank you for your assistance. They are designing a complementary medicine curriculum and want to have enough knowledge to know which patients to refer to an acupuncturist and when. Being steeped in the skepticism of Western Medicine they are looking for research studies proving the scope and efficacy of acupuncture. Any suggestions? I already have some stuff from NADA and the NIH Consensus Statement. Can anyone think of anything else I can let them read? Any web links would be good, too. Thanks for your help, Patty Seykora, Florida Branch
Guest guest
Dear Patty & TCM Forum This might prove useful. The WHO performed their own review and analysis of controlled clinical trials in acupuncture (published up to 1998/1999 throughout both China and the West) and have published their own list of diseases, symptoms or conditions for which acupuncture has been proved - through controlled trials - to be an effective treatment:- http://www.who.int/medicines/library/trm/acupuncture/clinicreportsacupuncture.sh\ tml This report makes it clear that this is not intended to be an exhaustive list but only a list of therapies that have hitherto been investigated.
