Guest guest
What about this idea for the group? Would folks like to share their best and most effective acupuncture techniques? Any condition/any pattern it doesn't matter. Whether its a point combination, a particular needling technique, a diagnostic technique - even something that you discovered yourself. Lets share and perhaps we can all improve from the exercise. OK....I'll start the ball rolling.... For excessive Liver patterns - Liver Yang Rising, Fire Flaring upwards, Hitting Spleen, Invading Lung etc. I will often spend time with the client explaining where the excessive energy can move to. Then depending on the pattern I will use suitable point combinations - Liv 3, P6, Liv8, etc. etc. My technique is to also add Du 20 and get the client to imagine warm oil melting from this needle down the back of their head and following the general line of the Gall Bladder Channel, with any excess moving from the centre to the outside and melting down to the little toe. This has worked wonders for some of my clients and almost always takes them into very deep levels of unconsciousness. They always feel fantastic afterwards. So what is your technique? Kind regards Dermot
Guest guest
Dermot, One thing that seems to help is to get people to " pretend sleep " . Since yang seems to be that much easier to stimulate and yin seams to be more difficult to cultivate eg. If one goes out side away from home, there are more stimulus that makes one nervous-alert etc. Hence, I in one way or other emphasise " the " yin, for example we are talking and since most people insist that they can not do meditation I introduce the idea of pretend sleeping. If we are sitting down it is simply closing the eyes and bending as if one was sleeping can be done laying down and standing. It gives a fairly quick experience of a sensation of relaxation. The challenge is making people realise that it is worth while doing it through out the day now and then. Hence in life style try to get people to think about yin because the yang is " easy " to stimulate just read the news. Another method that I try to get people to use is to shake their ears, this induce a nice vibrating feeling in the body. As far as my current understanding is, that it can break qi depression-stagnation and since it is easier to create stagnation then break it (just read the news etc...) the aim is to create this habit. Also try to emphasise the meditative potential in everyday experiences. Brushing once teeth's one can take three relatively profound breaths making coffee tea one can take three profound breaths before and after etc. These ideas come from my constant attempt trying to comprehend yin yang more, and from the idea that our body i.e. mind spirit and form is/can be our pharmacy and is/can be our source of health. Also sometimes do not have access to needles here in Guatemala so education becomes pivotal...
