Guest guest
This is my take on alchemy as a physician and laboratory alchemist. There are three major schools of alchemy; Western, Chinese and Indian, each with a somewhat different emphasis. The common definition that they share when properly practiced is as follows; the study, modeling and sustainable application of the energies resulting from the polar nature of creation resulting in matter and energy being used to liberate it's divine spark (in the Lurianic sense) and benefit the evolution of the practitioner and his/her surroundings. There are the interactions that generate creation; ie Eternity generates time and space. Time and space return to Eternity on one hand. There is an energetic disposition that is analogous to archetypes and an actual disposition as things are. The difference motivates creation. This is somewhat analogous to the Qabalistic Worlds before and after the fall and the Chinese Ho T'ou and Lo Chou. Or, in Hermetic science, the Golden Chain of Homer or the creation models proposed in the Corpus Hermeticum. As the reality of the IDEA (somewhat akin to the divine creative impulse) is difficult to perceive, and the reality of the world of shadows (our world as we remember it )is constantly changing. Only the changes are perceived objectively and can be worked on. Operative alchemy conducted by a competent practioner involves an awareness of the above mentioned motivating forces. These are harnessed in the lab to conduct a work that is in harmony with creation and because of this, the objective quality of the matter worked on is enhanced keeping in mind that the " state of consciousness " is enhanced at the same time. Laboratory manipulations are part of a process involving prayer/meditation and observation of nature (including scientific research and experimentation). Ora et labore is the guiding principle. This can manifest in different ways such as " finding " important data, making a seat of the pants change in a protocol, intuition etc. I would say that once a link is made, or that the alchemist becomes the link in between what is refered to as the two worlds discussed above, the work tends to proceed in a smoother fashion. The existential paradigm of creation happens in a continuum. It does not suddenly change from one platonic wold to the other. I'm talking in the sense as documented of Chardin's noosphere, Jung's Collective Unconsciousness and Rupert Sheldrake's morphic resonnance. Cheers, Dr. G.
