I haven't read this in a book, but it's my experience as a female that fat on

the body is acceptable as long as it's fluid, liquid and moving. Cellulite

is considered unattractive, I think, because it is 'fat stasis' or congealed

fat. So what you would be doing with cupping, if it indeed works, is break up

the fat stasis. You wouldn't be trying to push the cellulite out of sight.

yes....breaking up the fat stasis which has congealed in a wrong anatomical

area thereby creating the bumpy appearance.

cupping alone won't accomplish the task fully. a combination of therapies

including a form of GuaSha, along with heat, along with herbs.

Hi Dr. Richard!

Have you an online or correspondence course on your gua sha material?

You are on the other side of the state if I understand correctly, long

way for me . . .

Regards,

Pete

It is assumed you are not referring to pettechiae or ecchymosis which is

underneath the skin. This is normal and desired if it exists.

In the over 8 years I have been using these modalities day-in and day-out,

there has never been any skin-tissue damage.

Proper lubricant coverage to the skin and attention to details will avoid any

damage to the skin or for that matter any tissue.

As with any modality, repetition leading to experience is paramount. When a

practitioner occassionally uses these techniques they may get too aggressive

causing some excessive damage..

Hi Richard,

No i too see this with Gwa Sha when i do it, but this was actual tearing of the

skin and a bruising that was still there months later. Two patients of the same

practitioner. I do not know how this was done since i have never encountered it

before or since and this practitioner threatened to take me to court when i askd

about it.

I can not personally think of how you would get such a result with Gwa Sha, but

both had been treated for cellulite.

Either the practitioner missed a problem, was too agressive and/or did

something that was never mentioned sich as using some abrasive material

topically.

We may never know.

For it to have happened in TWO cellulite patients is quite suspicious. For

having treated so many patients over the years for all kinds of problems

including cellulite and NEVER having any reaction like this....I suspect it had

nothing to do with the act of GuaSha.

By the practitioner's reaction to your inquiry ....it tends one to assume

that they are being protective for reason(s) one of which is obvious. The other

is hidden.
