Hey Valerie,

Gosh, I feel so bad for you, depression can be so horrible. I have

fought depression over the years, but found that mine was due to

other health issues. Once I got that straightened out, then that

helped me a lot. Have you been on anti-depression drugs before? Some

times it seems there is just a deep hole that we sink into, and can

not see any day light. They say laughter is good for the sole, it can

also lift your spirits. This may not seem like a long term answer,

but watch a funny movie, talk to a friend that always lifts your

spirits. Tell your husband that you are having a really rough time,

and you really need him now.

This may seem like it could not be possible, but part of what helped

me was changing cleaners and personal items that do not have harmful

chemicals in them. There are a lot of chemicals in stuff like laundry

detergents, fabric softeners, bath and kitchen cleaners, deodorants,

bath soap, shampoo, hair spray, window cleaner, and the list just

goes on and on. I personally have a lot of sensitivities to

chemicals, and surprisingly enough the chemicals can cause

depression. Since I changed over to safer products it has really

helped me, I do not have to take anti-depression drugs anymore.

Please do not feel like you are all alone, I am saying a prayer for

you, and God is always with you. If you go to church maybe you could

talk to your minister, he might be able to help you.

Get involved with a project, something or someone that you can help.

Sometimes we need to get our minds off of ourselves, and onto some

thing else.

Thinking of you, and wishing you well.

Hi Valerie, You are having a very rough time at the moment. Sounds as

though you live in Canada. Here, it is next to impossible to get a

doctor so we go to emergency or a walk in clinic. do we get care as

good as if we had our own doctor? the best way to stay healthy is to

stay away from doctors. The drugs they give are so detrimental to our

health. As for your husband not caring, possibly he has a problem

wtih seeing you in this state and he feels helpless because he cannot

do anything to help you. People can appear to be cold and uncaring

when they don't know how to help someone they love. Do you have a

health food store that you can go to ? They should be able to help

you with something to get you out of the slump you are in. Just as

with physical problems it takes time to heal the mental part of us

can take even longer. Do not despair. There is help without a

doctor. People have been led to believe that is the only answer. IF

you need someone to email or be on a chat program I will be there

for you. Email me privately if you want. Edith

Valerie,

Physiologically, different things are going on. Both are difficult to

deal with - no question. But, just because you get really, really

depressed doesn't necessarily mean you're manic depressive. If you are

truly manic depressive, there is a chemical imbalance in your body. There

are some natural things people take to help regular depression, I've

taken them myself - but I'm not sure if they will help manic depression.

How much do you think might be situational? If any?

Valerie, I know this is not a popular stance in this group, but I've

worked in the mental health field, and feel that if you have not gone to

see a psychiatrist, you ought to do so. He/she can order various tests,

including a blood test, that will determine if you are, in fact, manic

depressive. I think you really need to know what is going on before you

can attempt to fix it. If necessary, go to the emergency room. I've know

a number of manic depressives, none of which were

able

fix what they had on their own - and several were proponents of the

natural and organic way living. That is not to say that perhaps you can't

work with things on your own - but first, you really need to know what is

going on. I think there are some situations where one does need a

physician. If your appendix bursts, no amount of natural anything is

going to save you. It needs to be removed and the poisons stopped from

spreading to the rest of your body. If your leg broke, you need to get it

set. .There are some situations where medical intervention is necessary.

When I was young, I lost a friend because her religion didn't believe in

surgery - her appendix burst and she died. She was only 11.

Valerie, Manic Depression is now refered to as Bipolar. If you have just depression, you may be Unipolar.. A Psychiatrist can determine this. Many MDs are telling people they in having stress have Bi polar and they have no

business messing

with this as their to help the body not the brain....I have a sister in law that

stayed depressed

since she lost her husband so she went shopping a lot and stayed up late...well

her mother thought

this bad so took her to a Dr and he put her on manic depression pills

zyprexa....now about 5 yrs

later my sister inlaw doesn;t show emotions, sets and sleeps all day and

virtually isn't herslef

any more....so when going to a Dr one needs to be careful cause seems to me way

to many people are

being told they have BI Polar and need stress medicine....best to see what herbs

is best and go to

a herblist to know this, also and more so study of the Bible...it's one thing to

be stressed and

another to be a zombie...just my thoughts a reader.....bj
