I responded to a philippine woman, that I were told that they were almost living off coconut.......oil. That was not approved, so I clicked . I had a few more mail back and forward, he - she ended with....and black people only eat chicken and watermelon. And I was a very disagreeable person.KennDen 24/03/2008 kl. 08.08 skrev Jane MacRoss:Its a woman - was there a reason given?? Hey Kenn I think what is being meant by all this ..... some things get blown out of proportion.... not all coloured people live on chicken and watermelon and not all people from the islands live off ONLY coconut...... all things in moderation tho.... and coconut oil is NOT bad for you either.... I have researched this myself.

Well, whoever it was, obviously took what you said as some sort of racial

not certain. Fried chicken and watermelon is a very southern thing.

Whites in the south eat it a lot on the summer - watermelon that is.

Fried chicken all year round. It's funny, because I've known a number of

blacks who wouldn't touch a piece of watermelon because of the assumption

that all blacks like watermelon.

I think, perhaps, she didn't take into account that English isn't your

native tongue, and although you write it pretty well, do make contextual

errors sometimes. Most of the people in this group have come to learn

that, but someone new to you wouldn't know that. People have gotten

pretty upset a time or two for something you said in this group, because

sometimes what you said was misunderstood. Like the comment you made a

while back about one standing around with one's pants hanging down, or

something to that effect. Remember?

Well, let me just say, that Alternative has lost out. Even though you do

make some errors with English sometimes, and I don't always agree with

your POV, you have a lot of interesting things to contribute. It doesn't

seem as though what you said should have caused a problem, but perhaps

someone was sensitive about it. I don't know. But, it's their

loss.

Sending an email is quite a tricky thing. The sender can mean one

thing and the person reading it can take it completely opposite of

what was meant. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion as long as

they are not being deliberately offensive to someone else. Some

moderators are rather close minded. IF you don't agree completely with

what they think they will either not post your message or will boot

you off their site. Then you have not lost anything but associating

with close minded people. So you are better off. Edith
