But, I've read in several places that the information came from the CDC (Center for Disease Control) . More than likely, it came from them. Doctors have to inform the CDC when someone comes to them that has an STD. They compiled the information, with the result being what was reported. I saw it as no way being something that touted the HPV vaccine or anything else like that. Actually, that's why I chose to send the article from the AP, rather than from someone else, whose motives might be in question.

Frankly, though I thought their figures were interesting (1 in 4 girls has an STD), I wondered about a number of things - like the girls who don't go to the doctor, the doctors that might not report all STD's, etc. Even with kids being as sexually active as they are today, I thought 1 in 4 seemed awfully high. I have no doubt that the number is high, but that's 25% of all teenage girls. Whether there is corporate control - I don't know. Influence perhaps...Control....I don't know. Plus, at this point, I can't see the reason to inflate the figures...I could see it if it came from a conservative, Christian organization who believe abstinence is the way. Figures like those certainly support that idea. Dunno - perhaps you're right. Perhaps they're going to come out with some special, magic something, that will ensure (ostensibly) the cure of all STDs, or stop the transmission of them. Haven't heard about anything like that, though. Have you?
