Guest guest
It is very difficult not to buy Chinese goods - they are everywhere and always the cheapest - as you say it is a very clever ploy - back to arts and crafts and making things yourself - if you're not at work everyday that is! I wonder what it's going to take before countries that continue to import from China either see the big picture, or at the very least, get a firm grip on the problem. Even though I realize it's not China, I found it interesting that in India they are not allowed to sell " fake " products within the country, but are allowed to export them....I have also wondered if the quality, or lack of quality, we are seeing in things from China and some other countries, is something one sees within that country. Clearly, India does not allow it - only to be sent to others. I know there are problems in China with quality control, but I have a hard time believing it's on the same massive scale that is exported. And, it's nice to know that if I'm paranoid - I'm not alone.....*smile* Lynn I don't want to be paranoid or anything, but haven't you begun to wonder how it is that all these " tainted " products keep coming out of China? You would have to be numb in the head not to question what is the obvious. It could also be a way to dispose of us, as in we the people. They killed 55,000 of their peoples pets. They fired on Tianamen Square their own people. We did have Posse Comitatis which gave us protection from the government. Our for fathers looked ahead and knew it would be this way eventually. Guest guest
I'm very glad to see someone beside's myself is concerned with the possibility that China is slowly doing us in! How do we know? I watched a special on one of the news channels a few months back talking about how all these bad products are getting in our stores.. It seems no one is checking the mass amounts of shipments that come into the US daily from China until someone has a problem, then they have recalls. How many people have been affected by a single product by time someone points out there's a problem with it? Very scarry.. I had no idea just how many things actually come out of China until the pet food recall, then suddenly it started becoming very clear that very few products are actually made in the US, and even if they're distributed by an American company, that doesn't mean the ingredients or parts were made here..Why??? We need jobs in this country.. Why are we buying so much from China? Who is benefiting from this? It certainly isn't your average joe. My husband and I have decided to put in a garden this summer and eat/can as much food as possible that's home grown. We try very hard to not buy anything made in China, but at times, there isn't a choice! That's really the scarry part.. I think it will take the American puplic standing up and refusing to buy China made products before things turn around again.. My husband doesn't think it's possible to go back.. He thinks we're doomed! I hope he's wrong. Just had to add my two cents! This whole China issue has been worrying me for a long time. Have a great day, Blessings, Karen , " Jane MacRoss " <highfield1 wrote: > > It is very difficult not to buy Chinese goods - they are everywhere and always the cheapest - as you say it is a very clever ploy - back to arts and crafts and making things yourself - if you're not at work everyday that is! > > Jane > > kerley983 > > I don't want to be paranoid or anything, but haven't you begun to wonder how it is that all these " tainted " products keep coming out of China? > > > I have made a promise to myself nothing from China. Guest guest
Hey everybody, I just wanted to say that I totally agree on tainted products from overseas. It has become very hard to buy products that are made in the USA. I searched for a while and found an American manufacture that I shop for all my home and personal care products from. I can get tooth paste, mouth wash, all my beauty products, bath soap, shampoo, vitamins and supplements, all my laundry products, kitchen and bath room cleaners. They have several hundred products that I can shop from and I just love it. Their products are very concentrated, so actually in the long run it costs about the same, or maybe even less than the tainted products that the supper market offers, or department stores. They also make them with safer more natural ingredients, so if you have skin rashes, eczema, or dermatitis these products might resolve that problem too. It is very nice to be able to buy products that are made in the USA again. I feel so much safer using these products. If anybody would like to know where I shop just email me, and I would be glad to pass the info along to you. If anybody knows where you can shop for American made cloths, I would appreciate you sending me that information. I do know one place that I stay away from and that is good old Wal- Mart, there is hardly anything there that is American made. You have to be extremely careful about the fresh produce that you buy there. On a environmental group that I belong to, they showed that last year 30 % of there produce came from overseas, and this year 70% comes from overseas. Other countries use pesticides and fungicides that are not lawful for use in the USA, but these countries can use it and send their produce to the USA. I am pretty sure there is not a piece of clothing in the whole store that came from the USA. If there is I have not found it. Well, there is my two cents worth for the day. Guest guest
Its the same in Australia Karen - companies go broke every day because the minimum wage really does not cover the cost of buying Australian made products. I see this as the government forcing us to buy Chinese goods, keeping us poor so we are forced to do this - driving our own companies out of business, keeping prices high so we can hardly afford to pay the mortgage and eat - all to one end. We are seeing the One End looming ominously before us and are turning a blind eye to what that might be. Only today the PM here was forced to very mildly express his concern, for example, about the atrocities that are happening in Tibet. How can he possibly, as PM of a country with only 22m inhabitants, expect to impact China? Or impact China's foreign policies? Our previous PM would not even acknowledge the Dalai Lama when he came here - for fear of offending the Chinese nation. What would really happen if we all stood up to China - they would drown in their own goods - the people would all starve and the workers, doubtless would be blamed - they are blamed now when things, like the Mattel fiasco, go wrong - the lives of the Chinese workers, are hell. And we - our needs to live - are keeping them in hell. Best, Jane - " Karen " <karen I'm very glad to see someone beside's myself is concerned with the possibility that China is slowly doing us in! Guest guest
Hi Jane and the group, It sounds like the gov. in Australia is about like it is in the USA. The USA even borrows money from China, now I think that is just terrible. That makes us very beholding to them, and probably part of the reason so many of these harmful products are being allowed in America. I was doing some research on different manufactures and what they use in there products, and where they make most of those products, one of the co.'s that I check out was Proctor and Gamble. Proctor and Gamble has 80 some plants that they manufacture many of our household cleaners, personal products, along with foods. I found one news clip from ABC News, they said that Proctor and Gamble has a home office here in the states, but all of their factories are overseas. Many of those factories are in China, it showed one such plant in China, and told about the people that works there. Talk about a slave shop, I could not believe it. They have a compound that they have to live in next to the plant, they have to work 7 days a week, no sick leave, no vac, no death leave, and the pay I do not remember for sure what it was, but it was like a couple of bucks and hour. Proctor and Gamble would not let the news crew on the grounds or in the building, so they could only take pictures from outside the chain link fence. However they did get into the compound to talk to some of the workers, and take some pictures there. It seemed clean enough, but there were beds lined up on both walls, no personal space for anyone. Can you imagine living like that? Proctor and Gamble and other manufactures that do business like this should not have a business. I just find this so shameful, goes to show you that there main concern is the billions of dollars they make every year. They do not care about their workers, or the consumers that purchase those harmful products. I personally will never buy another product manufactured by them. These kinds of manufactures have to be cut down to size, and if the gov. will not do it, then consumers have to. Some one should sue them for false advertisement, like the new ad on TV that we have here where they are advertising a safe bleach spray. Well there is nothing safe about bleach, and here they are wanting you to spray it in your home, around your baby's and children. Just makes me so mad! Ok,I will get off my soap box now. Guest guest
Thanks Annie - thats what I read in our National Newspaper here too - life stinks for some - its all down to karma I guess - so all we can do is our best!
