Guest guest
Due to various reasons I haven't been online for a while and I have not been able to read any of the stuff regarding HPV and Cervical Cancer, but having a bit of time, I came across this post and I just had to make a comment regarding it. I have not come across vaccines against HPV, maybe its just something that is around in the States, or just my ignorance, however, I am only too aware of HPV. HPV or Human Papilloma Virus is the medical name for Genital Warts, and is a very widespread condition not only in women, but in men also. When I was younger, I worked as a receptionist in a GP's surgery, and after my yearly smear, I got my result back as having the HPV Virus, along with CIN1 Pre Cancerous Cells. Obviously, the fact that I was able to see the results was due to my job as normally, the patient is not able to see the lab results. I was referred to the Gynae section of the local hospital, and was given laser treatment to eliminate the Pre Cancerous Cells, and since then, I have had not had one single abnormal smear. I am not in any way qualified to comment on this vaccine, but as I was able to see many results as part of my job, the majority of women with abnormal smears showing the HPV virus, also showed CIN1 Pre Cancerous Cells. Consequently I feel that the item you refer to in the post is very dangerous, as is the title, it is an invitation to be complacent about HPV calling it a scam. I cant comment about a vaccine, but anyone who has HPV symptoms, easily seen in men, obviously, not so easy in women, but if any woman has any strange lumps or skin tags on their vagina, or any reason to think they may have come in contact with the Virus, I urge you to visit your Dr or local STD Clinic and get checked out as soon as possible as in my opinion, HPV and Pre Cancerous cells are closely linked, at the end of the day, surely its worth getting checked out as Genetal Warts are easily cleared with topical treatments and I for one would far rather know if there was anything sinister going on down there instead of just thinking its just another excuse for lining the pockets of the owners of Pharmaceutical Companies. , NWRaven <NWRaven wrote: > > > > HPV does NOT cause cancer. Guest guest
Hi Suzie, Doctors and clinics across the country are promoting Merck's Gardasil vaccine (also called the " HPV vaccine " ) to prevent cervical cancer. They are recommending the vaccines to all girls as a " preventative. " The vaccine is actually a series of vaccines that cost $360 and it hurts. Not only is this another pharmaceutical scam—this is a scam that is being perpetuated by medical doctors and clinics. Vaccinations are big business and they represent hundreds of dollars per day in revenue. Dr. Joseph Mercola, whose mercola.com Web site is the largest alternative health site on the Internet, calls the Gardasil vaccine " useless. " When " gardasil " is typed into the search field on his site, 59 pages of links are returned. The Deception Behind HPV Infection Rates That Sells Unnecessary Vaccines http://v.mercola.com/blogs/public_blog/The-Deception-Behind-HPV- Infection-Rates-That-Sells-Unnecessary-Vaccines-6574.aspx Growing Controversy Over New Merck Vaccines http://www.mercola.com/2007/mar/10/growing-controversy-over-new-merck- vaccines.htm Gardasil Reactions and Deaths on the Rise http://v.mercola.com/blogs/public_blog/Gardasil-Reactions-and-Deaths- on-the-Rise-29768.aspx Mary Jo p.s. You may want to do some research on the iodine revival (Drs. Abraham, Brownstein, Flechas and Eskin). Iodine eliminates cancer cells through a natural mechanism in our bodies known as apoptosis (programmed cell death). We need iodine as a preventative not a vaccine. A handful of doctors in the country have been doing their own iodine clinical trials for the past 10 years and they have organized medical conferences for other doctors. The last conference was in San Diego last October. Iodine and selenium both initiate apoptosis. Stephanie Buist, who runs the Iodine group at , cured her thyroid cancer with iodine. The medical establishment creates fear about cancer (and " pre-cancerous cells " ) to promote conventional cancer treatments. Dr. Bernard Eskin has been writing journal articles about iodine for thirty years (he's written 100 articles). Japanese researchers have found that iodine suppresses tumor growth in experimental animals and they have demonstrated that seaweed, that is high in iodine, induces apoptosis in human breast cancer cells (Funahashi, H., Imaj, T., Tanaka, Y., et al, “Suppressive Effect of Iodine on DMBA-Induced Breast Tumor Growth in the Rat,” Journal of Surgical Oncology, 61:209-213, 1996, Funahashi, “Wakame Seaweed Suppresses the Proliferation of 7,12-Dimethylbenz(a)-anthracene- induced Mammary Tumors in Rats,” Japanese Journal of Cancer Research, 90 (1999), 992–997). I'd recommend a Web video (there are links to several iodine videos on the Vitamin C Foundation Web site): Video 2: Iodine Deficiency and the Link to Breast and Prostate Cancer This video discusses Dr. Brownstein’s observations on the value of Iodine supplementation with relation to cystic breast disease and to breast and prostate cancer. http://www.internetwks.com/clips/bsBCancer.rm Re: HPV DOES NOT CAUSE CANCER- ANOTHER SCAM Posted by: " Suzie " suzie_a mybrookexxx Sun Mar 16, 2008 8:23 pm (PDT) Due to various reasons I haven't been online for a while and I have not been able to read any of the stuff regarding HPV and Cervical Cancer, but having a bit of time, I came across this post and I just had to make a comment regarding it. Guest guest
Well thats me told. No matter what you say though, a condom is the closest thing you can get to prevent STD's other than not having penetrative sex at all. I was never a fan of condoms, indeed in my single days, I was constantly suffering from thrush caused by the lubricant used, but at the end of the day, I would rather have a dose of easily treated thrush than something worse. I think you will find that it is possible to buy different sizes and styles of condoms, and as for the uncovered skin, well, call me stupid, but I cant think of any area left uncovered by the right sized condom that will cause any STD. Please inform me if I am on the wrong track here and since my marriage there is something people do these days that I have never heard of. At the end of the day, its down to the individual what they do, but personally I would rather a prevention than a cure, but the subject seems to have changed somewhat, its not a case of whether or not you like to use condoms, but the fact that HPV can cause cancer or not, and I still maintain that it does and in the event of there not being anything else available, if there is a chance of catching HPV then using a condom is a bit of a no brainer!!! Guest guest
At 09:17 AM 3/22/2008, you wrote: Rhiannon, Of course it can help. Especially if something is conveyed through fluids....What I was alluding to without getting graphic, is, well...I don't know how you have sex, but whenever I've had it, the skin around the gentiles touch each other. Rub against each other. Beyond that which happens when there is penetration. How do you think one of the ways genital Herpes is passed on? You don't even have to have penetration for that to happen, depending on where the person's sore is. In fact, there is a lot of evidence that the herpes doesn't even have to be active for one to pass it on. Scabies is another. While not technically an STD, it's grouped with them due to the method of transmission. Chlamydia. Crabs....there are a number of things grouped under the classification of STD that are not necessarily conveyed through the act of sexual intercourse. Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) is another - it's not strictly an STD as it is not transmitted via sexual intercourse. However, it can be exacerbated by sex and is more frequently found in sexually active women than those who have never had intercourse. Genital warts are caused by some sub-types of Human Papillomavirus (HPV). They can appear on the skin anywhere in the genital area. Some STDs can be transmitted without having intercourse; they can be passed through skin-to-skin contact in the genital area. (Apparently, STI - Sexually Transmitted Infection - is now the preferred term from what I've been reading..) My point was - and is - that to say sex is safe simply because one wears a condom is foolish and dangerous. I felt the numbers of girls who ostensibly have a STD were awfully high. 1 out of 4. But, lets say it's only 1 out of 10. 1 out of 20. That's still and awful lot of girls who have something because they were fooling around. And, to tell people they will be safe from STDs because they wear a condom, is misleading - at the very least. If people, especially teenagers, are aware that using a condom does not protect them from a number of STDs, perhaps they will be more careful. Have sex with fewer people. Or, go to the doctor and get themselves checked more often. More closely check their intended partner. Whatever..........but, many are laboring under the false notion that using a condom (if they even do that) will protect them from getting a SDT. And, they clearly do not protect one from everything that is out there. I in no way am saying people shouldn't use condoms. Of course they should. Don't know if you read it yet, but I sent something to the group that spoke about the rise, and large numbers of over 50 people who have become either HIV positive or who have gotten Aids. Because, people that age, my age, don't think about getting pregnant (post menopause) and don't usually even consider that someone in their age group might have a disease. It's becoming a fatale error in judgement for a number of folks over 50. Lynn Well thats me told. Guest guest
I am not disagreeing with what a condom does, and the subject that is being discussed is HPV (genetal warts) and herpes has nothing to do with it at all. As you say, it can be contracted if it is active or inactive and can also be caught through oral sex if one of the partners has a cold sore on the mouth. I am a qualified pharmacist and I really dont need a lesson in safe sex indeed, I object to you talking to me as if I haven't a clue about sex, I am married and am well aware of all STD's, the cures and how they are contracted, as I spent enough time in university learning such things, and I really dont appreciate being spoken to like an idiot. The subject of the discussion was HPV and that is what I was referring to, but if you wish to discuss facts and figures I could probably give you more facts and figures than you could read without falling asleep, so I suggest if you want to discuss other STD's it is done under a different topic, and not HPV causing cancer and the effacacy of the vaccine. , Lynn Ward <lynnward wrote: > > At 09:17 AM 3/22/2008, you wrote: > > Rhiannon, > > Of course it can help. But, in any case, as you clearly know, a condom does not always make one safe from genital warts....which was what what I was saying all along......and, that kids are being misled by being told sex will be safe if they use a condom. They aren't being given the whole picture - which has been the crux of my argument all along. If you took my giving examples as treating you like an idiot - well, that's your perception not mine. Guest guest
Sorry if I came across as a bit sharp, lets say I was having a bad day!!!! I guess the long and the short of the matter is that in the event of nothing else being available, condoms are the only way of trying to prevent HPV other than celebacy. At least the use of a condom reduces the risk of contracting this and other infections quite considerably, and having been on the wrong end of the laser to rid myself of the HPV virus, I would suggest that anyone with an ounce of sense would use them. Lets face it, the Family Planning Clinics, GUM Clinics, and Drug Agencies give them away by the bucket full so there is really no excuse not to at least give them a try. I really cant see that people are going to not have sex no matter what infections there are going around, this is proved by the fact that HIV/Aids is spreading through the hetrosexual community faster than the Gay community and until some genius comes up with an alternative, I really cant see that changing no matter what peoples preferences are, the saying that using a condom is like having a bath while fully clothed is still a very common thought, so lets hope that the younger generation (and in a lot of cases, us older generation) either wise up, or a miracle cure all comes on the market or I cant honestly see the situation changing. , Lynn Ward <lynnward wrote: > > At 03:00 PM 3/23/2008, you wrote: > > So sorry to offend - this discussion came up in regards to how well a > condom stops one from getting an STD. Which, I guess, is why a lot of older folks are getting Aids and the like - one really doesn't think that the one you want to have sex with might have something - old or young. (I remember someone saying every time you have sex with someone, you're also doing it everyone they've ever had sex with. Makes an odd sort of sense) I used to know a couple of girls, who, when they decided to have sex with someone, would have them both go and be tested for HIV and AIDS. Kinda takes the romance out of it, but not a bad idea on the whole. Dunno, maybe people ought to consider going back to the way some used to do it - they remained fully clothed, but there was a hole in the women's nightgown.....*grin* Lynn Sorry if I came across as a bit sharp, lets say I was having a bad day!!!!
