I have personally been in Las Vegas when this sort of thing happened.

The day I saw it happen it was about 2PM, the sky was completely clear

and then the planes flew over and made the sky look something like the

pictures you refer to in your post. That day one plane made and " S "

shape through some of the parallel lines so that it looked like a

dollar sign. The next morning it looked like the weather had changed

from a bright blue sky to very hazy.
