Guest guest
In the same context, when I heard of Tammy's insane prosecution, I sent thefollowing e-mail message to Governor Edward Rendell: Governor Edward G. Rendell225 Main Capitol BuildingHarrisburg, Pennsylvania 17120 From my email address you will note that I am living in South Africa and youmay therefore conclude that the Tammy Grimes story and the deplorable"guilty verdict" has met with worldwide condemnation. In fact, in mycapacity as a specialist translator in the legal field with colleaguesspread across the globe, I personally undertake to ensure worldwide exposureof this appalling miscarriage of justice. I am not asking you to PARDONTammy Grimes for a "crime" that was not even committed in the first place, but to launch an investigation into the unethical trial procedure conductedby both the DA and the presiding judge. Surely, as a former districtattorney you will have to concede that a defendant has the constitutionalright to produce evidence in substantiation of his or her innocence and thatthe court has an obligation to accept such evidence. For some unfathomablereason, Tammy Grimes was prevented from exercising such right and anyverdict obtained in such underhanded and unethical manner should be setaside forthwith. What exactly was the "crime" allegedly committed by Tammy Grimes thatwarranted prosecution and might even result in 1-2 years' jail time in theeyes of the beholder, in this case an over-eager beaver of a districtattorney who, no doubt, wanted to collect brownie points for the upcomingelections?! Tammy displayed a rare human character trait which has almostbecome extinct in today's dehumanized and desensitized society, namelyshowing compassion for a dying sentient living being, left chained andunattended for three days in severe pain and distress by what can only becalled misfits of the human race. By putting into practice the values andethics conveyed in John F. Kennedy's "Profiles in Courage", Tammy acted likeany decent and ethical human being would and provided this abused animalwith the help and care it deserved and so desperately needed. The owners ofthis poor animal MUST be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law forsubjecting their "property" to such suffering. Ironically, the crux of thematter is that living and breathing creatures who feel pain and sufferingjust like humans do are merely recognized as "commodities and property"under your outdated law, despite the fact that this assumption does not seemto apply and is quickly abandoned when it comes to the billion dollar petfood and pet drug conglomerates which keep filling their multi- billiondollar coffers by exploiting pet owners' rightful sentiment that their petsare family members and deserve to be treated as such. Sir, your achievements as a former district attorney and mayor ofPhiladelphia have been amply documented. It is certainly no secret that thereputation of the United States and above all the credibility and ethics ofthe current government have hit rock bottom in the global arena. Yet, thecourageous act of a very special and compassionate young woman, namely TAMMYGRIMES, has achieved what all your smooth-talking presidential candidateshave failed to accomplish so far - restore faith in the inherent goodnessand compassion of the American people! Instead of penalizing Tammy Grimes for an act of compassion which has beenapplauded by millions of caring pet owners across the globe who would havedone exactly the same, you. Sir, would surely make your mark in history ifyou would a) pass the long-overdue law of recognizing animals as sentientbeings and above all b) set aside Tammy's conviction and c) charge andprosecute the late Doogie's abusive owners, the real perpetrators of thisdeplorable act of cruelty against an animal. I would personally urge myfamily and friends in the United States to nominate you for the Profile inCourage award. Although residing in South Africa, my grandchildren are growing up in theUnited States and the message conveyed to impressionable young souls byJudge Elizabeth A. Doyle, namely that rescuing a dying animal from itsabusive owners is a punishable "crime" is not only too dreadful tocontemplate but also the height of insanity and would only reinforce andsubstantiate general global belief that morals and ethics no longer exist inthe United States. Februar 2008 21:26[MedicalConspiracies] Pennsylvania Court Orders Doogie's Storyoff the Internet Please spread this blatant travesty of justice far and wide. What happenedto Tammy Grimes for showing compassion to a dying dog could happen toanyone of us if faced with a similar decision of alleviating the suffering of ananimal in pain or of a child for that matter. The pathetic excuses of ahuman being, i.e. the owners, should have been prosecuted to the fullestextent of the law and the presiding judge in this case should be removedfrom the bench. Please keep Tammy's and Doogie's story alive!Note that she was ordered within 10 days to take everything Doogie relatedoff of any site she 'has control or influence over.Well, since nobody has "control or influence" over this list, we are in aposition to spread and condemn this miscarriage of justice far and wideand as you can see - it is even making the rounds in South Africa. Ingrid Blank/South Africa -Veterinary VictimsvetvictimsSent: Saturday, February 23, 2008 11:55 AMPennsylvania Court Orders Doogie's Story off the Internet YOU MUST READ THIS WHOLE STORY ABOUT DOOGIE, BECAUSE HIS STORY IS ABOUT TODISAPPEAR FROM THE INTERNET UNDER COURT ORDER. DOOGIE WAS A DOG LEFT TODIE AT THE END OF A CHAIN. A WOMAN NAMED TAMMY GRIMES RESCUED HIM, AND WASARRESTED BY THE "OWNERS." GRIMES WAS SENTENCED YESTERDAY IN COURT FORTHEFT OF PROPERTY. THOSE OF US HELPING ANIMALS IN ANY WAY ARE ALL AT RISK OFBEING VICTIMS OF THE TRAVESTY THAT IS OUR "JUSTICE" SYSTEM. This is no "read and decide for yourself" b.s., either. This is aNO-BRAINER WHAT WAS DONE TO THIS DOG that was "just old." See the pictures and video. BELOW FROM http://www.dogsdeservebetter.com/doogie.html PLEASE TAKE THETIME TO READ THE SITE, AND SEE IF THERE IS ANY WAY WE CAN KEEP DOOGIE'SSTORY ALIVE ON THE INTERNET. LAWYERS, JUDGES, AND OTHERS ARE BECOMINGDETERMINED TO CONTROL THE INTERNET AND I CAN TELL YOU FROM FIRSTHANDEXPERIENCE - IT IS BEYOND FRIGHTENING. WRITE, CALL, REPOST THE STORY, DO WHAT YOU CAN. THANK YOU. Julie From the site: (Blair County, Pennsylvania) 2/22/08. Today Grimes was sentenced to 300 hours community service for a'people organization', because 'people are dogs too'. She was also orderedto pay for the cost of the trial. (Note: this is not court costs, buttrial costs, two different things. Trial cost covers the jurors lunches, thesheriff's wages, and the bus driver's salary.) This was justified by thejudge because she said that Grimes chose to go to trial over ARD[alternative dispute resolution], therefore she should have to pay for it.Isn't it every person's right to go to trial? Does that right come with aprice tag? Interestingly enough, according to Grimes' attorneys, this isnot only NOT OFTEN done, but RARELY done. The costs were around $1700. She was also ordered within 10 days to take everything Doogie related offof any site she 'has control or influence over'. We will be appealing most ifnot all of the sentencing asap. The absolute worst part of it all was the way she was treated by both theDA and the judge. The saddest thing is that they actually seem to BELIEVE thehorrible things they said about her. They seem to actually BELIEVE thatthe taking of Doogie was a publicity stunt by Grimes, so that she could be a'hero'. That the Arnolds are 'victims' of her lies, and that 'the dog wasjust old'.
