Few speak out as loudly or as effectively for elephants, tigers, and other animals who are forced to perform in circuses and other forms of "entertainment" as PETA. With your immediate support, we will be able to escalate the fight against the fear and abuse that animals in the entertainment industry often endure. Our work for these animals gets results, and their abusers know it.For years, PETA has fought against the hideous cruelty that takes place behind the scenes at Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. We've recorded eyewitness accounts of a savage beating of an elephant by Ringling's head elephant trainer, taken sworn statements concerning animal abuse from former circus employees, and documented dozens of alleged federal violations related to animal care. Thanks to your support, Ringling has been losing ground not just with authorities and the public but also with corporate sponsors. When PETA learned in 2007 that family—restaurant chain Denny's was partnering with Ringling, we immediately sprung into action. After multiple attempts to urge the corporation to sever its ties with these documented animal abusers went unheard, we launched a massive campaign in a way that only PETA can. We targeted the company through protests at Denny's headquarters, mailings to every Denny's restaurant in the country, a spoof Web site, thousands of calls and e-mails from our supporters, and even a shareholder resolution calling on the company to end its affiliation with Ringling.Weeks ago, we learned that—thanks to your invaluable support and after a little more than five months of campaigning—Denny's has ended its partnership with Ringling. The company now joins MasterCard, Visa, Liz Claiborne, and Sears, Roebuck & Co., which have all ended their sponsorships of Ringling as a result of PETA's efforts. Despite important victories like this one, the long history of Ringling animal abuse that PETA has uncovered, and ever-dwindling attendance for its shows, the circus still refuses to retire its animal acts. With your generous contribution today, PETA can continue to pressure Ringling and other circuses to stop the abuse of elephants, tigers, horses, and other animals and cancel animal performances for good.Thank you for all you've done to help with this important win in the fight against Ringling's cruelty and for everything you do to help end the abuse of animals in the name of "entertainment."
